African Community Centers <functionalunity@bellsouth.net>: From: "African Community Centers" <functionalunity@bellsouth.net> Date: Fri, 11 Jan 2008 19:40:43 -0500 Subject: Final Notice (Saturday, 6:00pm) State of Emergency!!! - Stopping Family Violence and Restoring Traditional Afrikan Values State of Emergency!!! COMMUNITY ASSEMBLY! (First Quarter, 2008) "Stopping Family Violence and Restoring Traditional African Centered Values" *Please forward to your list: *Please help spread the word: The African Community Center for Unity and Self-Determination/Atlanta is hosting its first Community Assembly of the year for all African (Black) People of Metro Atlanta. The Assembly will take place Saturday, January 12, 2008, 6:00 PM at the Afrikan Djeli Cultural Center, 840 Ralph D. Abernathy Blvd. In the African Village (West End). The Community Assembly is set every three months as a time to refocus and reenergize as we work collectively to insure the safety and welfare of our community and people. The theme of this Assembly is: Stopping Family Violence and Restoring Traditional African Centered Values. As we struggle to better organize and strengthen our Community, and as we fight against oppression and exploitation, we must not close our eyes and our hearts to the violence taking place within our families. Far too often, we are allowing our frustrations and anger due to oppression to boil over and hurt our mates, our children and other members of the family. - It's time that we bring these contradictions out in the open and with courage and love, find ways to heal and protect our families and its members. At the Assembly, a panel of brothers and sisters with expertise in this area will present and lead us in a discussion for understanding and solutions. *SOME OF THE TOPICS TO BE COVERED WILL INCLUDE: - Domestic Violence - Physical - Emotional - Psychological Abuse - Sexual Abuse and Incest - Stalking - What Victims need to know - Community Resources *Open Mic: Feedback and announcements from the audience as time permits: All individuals and organizations concerned about the progress of our community and people are "Called to Assemble". This is a critical time in our history and we MUST come together to strengthen our Community and secure our families. Our families are truly our FOUNDATION! Again, our next Community Assembly is set for Saturday, January 12, 2008, 6:00 PM at the Afrikan Djeli Cultural Center 840 Ralph D. Abernathy Blvd. S.W. Atlanta Please mark your calendar. It's being resolved as we speak and the Nananom Nsamanfo are on the case 4 the race. You can catch the update here: http://www.abibitumikasa.com/Update.php when you get a spare second or two. Can you give me a translation of your name? Also is it isiXhosa or isiZulu?
