O Ku O Africans. On behalf of the family of Baba Medahochi, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for all of the prayers, donations and well wishes that have come to us over the past week. We, the children and grandchildren of Baba Medahochi welcome all who loved Baba to honor him with us and to assist us in guiding his spirit to the realm of the ancestors. This evolution will take place in several phases. First, there will be a graveside ritual Friday June 1, 2007 at 12:00 noon. It will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park at 2284 Candler Road in Decatur, Georgia 30032. All are welcome to assist us as we commit his body to Onile (earth) at that time. Nine days following that, on June 10, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. There will be an Insinku (celebratory funeral rite) to invigorate his spirit to give it strength and energy to continue his transition. All who loved Baba and all who have been touched by his work and his spirit directly or indirectly as asked to be present and to assist us in doing the necessary rituals for him and honoring him and all that he has done. This ritual/homegoing celebration will take place at African Dieli Cultural Center. It is located at 840 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd SW Atlanta, Georgia 30310-1808. Fourty-one days following the day that his body is put into the ground, on Thursday July 12, 2007 there will be a final ritual to send him to the ancestral realm. The time and place for that will be announced. Again, who knew and loved Baba Medachochi are welcome to attend this his spirited ritual.
In addition, Ason and Omiyale will be having their annual Devoir celebrations on Saturday June 2, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. At their home. 1544 Childress Dr. Atlanta, Georgia 30311. At the Devoir we will honor Grandbwa Sile, Obatala, Damballa Wedo, Osun, Sango, Marrassa, T.T. Lewis, ( Omiyale’s grandfather), and Baba Medahochi, (Ason’s grandfather). Participants are asked to bring an egg, a candle, a bottle of alcohol, a coffee cup, and bottle of perfume. Information will be updated on MedahochiKOZ.com. If you have questions or concerns that are not answered there please e-mail Ason Gbehanzin (Medahochi’s beloved grandson) at Ason256@aol.com, or call him at 404-344-6536. You may also call Baba Tosu at 404-766-5818. If you would like to make a donation for the expenses of theses rites please send them or bring them to Ason Gbehanzin or Baba Tosu. Baba Tosu’s address is 2359 Manor Ave. East Point, GA. 30344. Checks to him should be payable to Jesse Johnson Jr. Ason’s address is 1544 Childress Dr. Atlanta, GA. 30311. Checks to him should be made payable to Nyansanu Ajinaku. Please spread the word as quickly as you can. Ndokwe Trala. Ekpopede ( See you soon), The family
