Reasons to Learn Yoruba at Abibitumi KasaEkiini- It increases your brain power-Having to think, comprehend, and respond in
logical manner in another language causes you to stretch the limits of your
mind.Ekeji- It adds to your own personal development - Being able to learn another
language gives you a deeper sense of achievement. It gives you a cursory glance
of what your mind is capable of doing.Eketa- It gives us another means to communicate without relying on YT.Ekerin- It bridges gaps amongst Africans. One is regarded with respect for taking
the time to learn a mother tongue and for trying to use it. This feeling of
acceptance by one’s brothers and sisters goes way beyond anything you have
ever experienced. It also tore down the barrier of relying on YT language to
communicate.
And as a side note, Abibitumi Kasa students are constantly praised for the tonation used while speaking as well as their depth of understanding of the culture and worldview.
Be a personal witness on the importance of learning our languages and the thorough instruction provided by Abibitumikasa (Black Power Language). If you are serious about being an Afrikan and your aim is to help Afrikans throughout the Diaspora, it would behoove us all to learn our own languages.Hundreds of Afrikans from every hemisphere on the planet earth have embarked on this process of language reclamation and fortification.I challenge others to do the same.Yoruba Language Classes offered at Abibitumi Kasa Afrikan Language Institute focus on students' conversational abilities and creativity as well as providing the students with a survey of Yoruba poetry, conversations, proverbs etc. In this way, the student is able to familiarize herself or himself with the Yoruba worldview while becoming a transmitter of the Yoruba worldview.
As an elder once told me "Yoruba i mfinda" or Yoruba is like a forest. I have found this to be true. Within the language there is so much to learn and to discover. The language is a starting point of understanding the Yoruba (Afrikan) worldview and all of its various interrelated manifestations including the spirituality, political systems, healing systems a.b.b.l. Knowing the Yoruba language opens up a whole new world that theretofore may be opaque to one who may just hear a string of sounds.
In Yoruba classes at Abibitumi Kasa, we give attention to a thorough explanation of every word, idiom and proverb. Literal translations and figurative interpretations are given so that we may know what we are saying and the specific context in which to deploy our knowledge.
