Default Home Remedies and Treatments of Malaria

Malaria

Malaria is one of the most common diseases. Every year thousands of people suffer from this disease all over the world. Female mosquito carry malarial parasites, when they bite a person, those parasites enter to his body. These parasites later on enter to the lungs and multiply, and spread through out the body through blood vessels. These mosquitoes however, cannot harm everybody. People with weak immune system and those who are living in unhealthy living conditions are more susceptible to malarial attack. This article will explain in detail about the various aspects of malaria, its causes, symptoms, and effective home remedies.

Malaria Causes

Malaria can attack people living in unhealthy condition. Malarial mosquitoes grow in unhygienic places. Change in climate and temperature, attack of parasites, moving from one place to another are other reasons for malaria.

Malaria Symptoms

The major malaria symptoms are as follows: Patient suffering from malaria will experience severe cold even during the hot climate. In fact this is the first symptom, or the initial stage experience, of malaria. Despite of feeling severe cold, the body temperature rises high and cause severe body pain, headache, vomiting, and some times unconsciousness. In the later stage patient experiences excess sweating, which result in sudden lowering of body temperature. However, patient will experience extreme weakness and frequently reaches to the state of unconsciousness. Patient may also suffer from jaundice, lack of blood in the body, etc.

Home Remedies for Malaria

Patient suffering from malaria should be given adequate amount of water and other fluid. The idea is to lower the high body temperature. If high temperature persists for longer period of time, cover his body in wet cloth for some time and then remove it. Repeat this process until body temperature drops somewhere around 38 degree Celsius. Other home remedies are:

Basil (tulsi) leaves:

Basil or tulsi leaves are one of the oldest, most effective home remedies for the treatment of malaria. Take 12-15 tulsi leaves and extract its juice. Add 1-2 tablespoon of black pepper powder to it. Patients who are in initial stage of malaria find great relief with this mixture. The medicinal property of basal leaves kills the malarial effect and reduces its severity. It is also found that people who take tulsi leaves in their tea regularly are less susceptible to malarial attacks. Also take tulsi leaf extract with honey. This too has a very strong effect in curing malaria. This is one of the best home remedies for malaria

Cinnamon and cloves:

Other home remedies for malaria include cinnamon and clove powder. Take 2-3 teaspoon of finely powdered cloves and cinnamon and mix in a glass of water. Boil this mixture until the constituent become half. Allow it to cool and add little amount of black pepper or honey to it. Patient can take this mixture 2-3 times a day. This is a very old remedy for curing malaria.

Lemon juice:

Lemon juice is also an effective home remedy for the treatment of malaria. Take 2-3 tablespoon of lemon juice and mix in half cup of water. Take this mixture during the initial stage of fever. This is one of the useful home remedies for malaria

Grapefruit (Chakutra)

Grapefruit or Chakutra is a great remedy for curing malaria. Patient should take raw grapefruit or its juice. Other fruits which are good for patient suffering from malaria are apple, orange, etc. If patient cannot eat these fruits, freshly prepared fruit juice should be given.

Ginger:

Ginger is one of the oldest home remedy used for the treatment of several chronic diseases. Take a small piece of ginger and 2-3 teaspoon raisins. Add this to a glass of water and boil it till the constituent become half. Allow it to cool, and then give to the patient. This will make him feel much better. This is one of the important home remedies for malaria.

Balance diet:

Person suffering from malaria should be given liquid foods. When patient starts recovering, he should be given green leafy vegetables and fruits. Boiled rice, with boiled vegetables, rice cooked with pulse (dal) or khichdi should be given. These are easily digestible. Whole wheat grain is very good for them. Patient should not eat junk food, fatty or oily food. Soft drink, chocolates, etc., should strictly be avoided.

It is said that prevention is better than cure, and it is very true in the case of malaria. Apart from the above mentioned home remedies, people should take care of some important things, which will help in controlling the birth of malaria-carrying mosquito. Some of the things to remember are as follows:

Keep your place clean, dry, and hygienic. Use detol, phenyl, etc., for cleaning house and toilets.

Never allow water to store in a pool, or potholes near your house. Stagnant water helps in the growth of malarial parasites. Also keep the water tank, air conditioners, etc., clean and dry. Clean the water cooler time-to-time in summer, and when it is not in use, that is during winter, make sure that cooler is completely dry.

Always wear covered cloth, when this epidemic is spread in your area. The idea is to protect your self from mosquito bite.

Patient should not do any kind of heavy work, walking, or exercise until recovered completely.
