Default Re: Who Betrayed the Afrikan World Revolution? - Dr. Clarke

This is a paraphrase of the Yoruba sacred oracle Ifa, this odu is Oturopon Otua.. this is my response to the first question asked of me by some daughters on this new year and my response.

"What are the crimes that Yoruba people have comited against Yoruba people in the USA?"

I think it is time to mature and accept some responsibility for the things we do to each other in th name Ideologies, Philosophies by using ancint Psychoogical systems to victumize our people. We must rid ourselves of victim-mentality. Who Betrayed the Afrikan World Revolution?

“Greetings to you all the household…”

Orunmila left for the place described for him
Immediately on entering the road that led there
The learner student came out of a corner
They met each other on the way
He shouted in exhilaration ‘Welcome Baba’
      ‘You are most welcome’
Whose wife (mate) is the woman (or man) is pounding yam in front of your house was Orunmila’s first question
She/he is my wife (husband) the student answered
      ‘She is doomed’
      Orunmila cursed her.

      If one is enthusiastic
      Seeing one from afar
      And be making merry
      Is a thing of substance?
As much as I tried to find out about you from her
      ‘She was saying something else’
I even thought she is not your wife Orunmila concluded
Ifa enjoins us to be of good character
The woman did not know she had misbehaved to a spirit being…
      Orunmila’s pupil started begging
      Kaabiesi
He said, “Greetings to you all the household”

If I remove the gender designations and apply this oracle to all people it addresses the question of spiritual crimes and cultural criminals against the Yoruba people in this country. Orunmila was looking for his true students and along the way he was met with disrespect, lack of cultural protocols and sensitivities. Although many people have been trying to find out about Yoruba spirituality and cultural ways of life, like Orunmila, they have not been greeted properly because the people have been too pre-occupied with their own endeavors. Some of us think we have the right to abandon our ancestral insights and ways that were accumulated over the last half of a century.

This a crime because we do not have that right. We have been blessed to be in the company of “spirit beings”. It is time to examine ourselves. Who are we to discard what we have painstakingly learned at the cost of many lives? Who will pay for giving up and letting go of our ancestors hands? Our mistake is to think that there are no repercussions. Ipin, karma, says there is. In this odu Orunmila cursed the criminals and the crimes.

We need not worry, it is a new day! E’karo, “Greetings to you all the household”
