Steps needed to Legally Own
a Handgun in Chicago

　
　
1. Obtain, complete and mail your FOID card application.
2. Take two identical passport sized photos taken within the last 30 days showing your full face neck and shoulders.
3. You must either have a valid drivers license or obtain a letter from a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist attesting that you meet the minimum vision requirements to obtain an Illinois driver’s license.
4. Take 5 hours of training from a State Certified Firearms Instructor.
5. Take the form that your firearms instructor signed to 4770 S. Kedzie along with $100.00 to obtain your Chicago Firearms Permit (make sure you get it laminated).
6. Talk to you firearms instructor about getting a gun that will fit your hand properly, and make sure you can handle the recoil of that gun, before you make a purchase. Purchase your gun.
7. You have 5 days from the date you pick your gun up to go back to 4770 S. Kedzie and register your gun. There is a one time $15.00 registration fee per firearm. You can only register one handgun in a 30 day period.

For anyone who is interested in complying with the new law. The steps in the post above are the requirements. Personally I might consider registering one or two but that would be my limit. In the final analysis, the ONLY purpose for gun registration today, is gun conficascation tomorrow. White folks could care less about their own laws, they use their power to do what they want...unless someone else has the power to stop them. Remember Hurricain Katrina. The so-called authorities could not provide people with food, water, clothing or shelter but they came and took all registered guns away from their owners, leaving them at the mercy of whoever decides to abuse them.
Still, I do advise people to acquire the training, not just because I teach the classes, but because you have a responsibility to know how to operate a gun safely as well as knowing when you can legally shoot, and especially when NOT TO SHOOT! Remember, this is amerikkka, where that which is morally right and that which is legally right is as far apart as the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. I personally think anyone who owns a gun should be obligated to acquire formal training on how to appropriatly and effectively use it.
