I wrote this poem for the Assata forum when I was a moderator there....but I feel that it's more appropriate here.
![]() Mama ,can you hear me? I am in a place that I fear I don’t belong here Your daughter is screaming ,wanting to be near You ,mama Oh mama , I want to feel the sun I want to play and run ,until night Looking at the beautiful stars ,twinkling & bright As I sleep under the blanket of night In a place I do not know I dream of you, Mama ,and I cry I want to come to home to you , my Mama I am in chains ,I am in pain I miss feeling the warm Afrikan rain Now the rain has become cold & and I’m in their savage hold I want to be held , take away my fears Wipe away my tears, your heartbeat is what I want to hear I want to run to your arms ,Mama Protect me from harm Mama I need you , my heart is bleeding You are hurting from the Yurugu’s greed They have raped me , Mama ,in me I carry their Evil seed from their vile deeds Oh mama…I want to die Be free and fly across the Afrikan sky Lie on the grass ,and see the brightest star You are no longer close ,you are too far Away from me ,to see what they do to me Oh , Mama oh, Afrika…please hear my cry… [smiley=sankofa.gif]
