Cameroon?
Greetings fam.
I'm considering Cameroon after very convincing and inspiring conversations with an elder here who has lived and plans to return to Cameroon. Doing research on the country now and, while its early yet, I'd be lying if I said I'm not quickly warming to the possibility. Is anyone considering Cameroon? Know of any repats to Cameroon? Any info about life in Cameroon would be much appreciloved."Do not misuse your time while following your heart, for it is offensive to the soul to waste one's time." ~ Ptahhotep

Re: Cameroon?
You speak French?
I don't know anyone who has repatriated there, but I have a sistar-friend who lives in New York from Cameroon. Her immediate family lives in France though. I'll connect with her and find out if maybe she knows anyone who has repatriated.

Re: Cameroon?
Cameroon is in the list for me only on the basis that I feel that somehow my roots are in this area. It is silly though when I think about it. Someone who could practically be my twin states that she traced her roots back to Cameroon..and since this conversation I have always looked at the globe wondering.
I have become realistic with myself and realize that I will never know, but I have ruled out certain parts of Western Africa just based on the fact that my gut and experience with certain individuals from these parts confirm that this is not my "tribe"
I am sorry that my response does not give you more concrete logistics, but I say go where your inner spirit moves you. It will always be the right thing at the right time.

@ Kala - no, I'm not fluent in French right now. Meda ase for contacting your friend.
@ NyameNti - I know how you feel @ connection, gut feeling kwk. I think there's much to be said for not ignoring those 'gut feelings'.... our ancestors speak to us through those feelings. I'm curious to know what parts of western Africa you've ruled out so far."Do not misuse your time while following your heart, for it is offensive to the soul to waste one's time." ~ Ptahhotep

Re: Cameroon?
@ Akua Ma'at- That Western Tip of Afrika for me shall I say-will not be on my list of an 'extended stay'
(i.e. Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, ect)...Nonetheless, I have good thoughts on Senegal-tall phenotype and those that I have encountered
don't apologize for being Afrikan-I respect this a great deal.
My decision will be based on spiritual guidance. Thus far my eyes are looking farther right.
As I mature, complete trust and reliance on my inner voice is becoming apparent.
I encourage you to continue to be bold in whatever you decide.
The land belongs to you.

Re: Cameroon?
I am both Bamileke and Bamum. Cameroon is a beautiful country. It is Africa in miniature. 3 of Africa's indigenous writing systems are from Cameroon.

Re: Cameroon?
I must warn you though! most of the younger generation are Eurocentric idiots who don't want to speak their native tongue. It's quite sad,

MfonPtah much thanks to you for your response. Not surprised at your comment regarding the younger generation... seems to be the same all over. Do you reside in Cameroon now?
