Greetings Afrikan Family

I think it's time to pull some rank, and hold people accountable. Often times we hold up our leaders and key figures for the great work they do, and ignore that they also had/have issues that they should have been called on; Unrighteous Behavior on the part of leaders, those we look up to, and/or those so called "conscious" Afrikans, our family/friends around us, and also ourselves that seems to get overlooked.

Now, it's true that we are all human, we are all evolving, and we all have faults, AND we have to also acknowledge our challenges and be willing to work towards being better Afrikans.

So, in the spirit of Ma’at, and Love, and in the spirit of calling people out, and calling ourselves out to do self reflection and collective work, and add in a bit of humor and sarcasm too... I entitle this post...


You Are Perpetrating As a *Ma’atic Afrikan if...
(Please check the definition of Maat below)

1. You preach nation building for Afrikan people, but don't think dating and/or being married to yt is a contradiction (and counter-revolutionary).

2. You think that it is necessary for Afrikan people to work with yt in order to be liberated, and don't think it's possible to be liberated unless we do so.

3. You think that Afrikan spiritual systems are "religions" to be shared with yt.

4. You preach eating healthy and practicing a holistic diet, while your backside is spreading.

5. You preach nation building for Afrikan people, while you are engaged in intimate relations with multiple, unknowing partners at the same time.

6. You preach an African-centered lifestyle, but do not think chemically altering your natural hair is a contradiction (and counter-revolutionary).

7. You maintain an Afrikan-centered internet persona that does not truly reflect your actions or personality in real life.

8. Your definition of being an Afrikan working towards liberation consists solely of having membership with Afrikan-centered websites, going to Afrikan centered lectures, and reading books.

9. You sing "conscious" music, but use scantily dressed yt females to market your albums

10. You have 10 plus years of expertise on what you don't agree with as far as culture, religion etc.. But have not identified a culture, religion etc that you do practice. This person may have alot of information, but is not accountable to any standards, principle, nor anyone i.e. A roving rebel.

*MA’AT: The symbolic representation of Ma’at as a human figure with outreached hands and wings, is the Netcher of the weighing of the soul in ancient Kemet. The heart of the deceased was believed to be the seat of the soul and it was weighed on the scale of the Netcher Ma’at, against a feather, which represented the principles of truth and righteousness (the seven cardinal virtues). You know I was really shocked (but I guess I shouldn't have been) when I went to the myspace pages of some of the Marley sons and some other reggae artists pages, and they now have the practice of instead of putting in the picture of their album next to their song on their myspace players, they have scantily clad white women in sexual poses... I was like wha???

I don't know if they call themselves conscious or what... But I know alot of youth are looking to the rastafari movement for liberation, and they do claim rastafari...

Medase paa (Much thanks) for posting your comments about the Marley's and Rastafarianism. It is a good point to make. How do the Marley's or any Black group who got just basic home training for that matter, allow scantily clad women of any race to be up on they cover? Even worse- yt's! Whether the children of Bob Marley call them self conscious or not- they are using a name and a legacy to market their music.

E se pupo (Thank you much) for adding on to the list. I will be putting this one on there. It is so so so true. That is a classic personality. I can name a few (but I'm going to keep those names to myself).

I would add that the roving rebel at times has all this information, but uses it selfishly, in the sense that they use it to attack Afrikan people rather than help Afrikan people. They use their information to preach to us, w/ more of a concern with hearing themselves speak, rather then having us understand what they are saying.
