Most of the time this show was a swing in a miss, but sometimes it did hit. I remember the Rodney King episode where Whitley was somewhere talking to a Black woman about how she was an american citizen and how the constitution would protect her. The woman checked her saying:
"When that piece of paper was written, Afrikan people in this country were slaves. All of us. We sisters were considered nothing but bedwarmers...stop worrying about integrating and being accepted and start thinking about building. For yourself for our people, so that we can provide a future for our children." I also thought this episode was interesting:
