Zimbabwe: Ujamaa Youth Farming Project
Zimbabwe : Ujamma Youth Farming Project
With so much energy being put towards maligning Zimbabwe and the revolutionary efforts of its people by western and western-supported media, there exists an ongoing struggle to secure the needed and continuous support that will keep programs such as the Ujamma Youth Farming Project www.ujammafarming.org operational
Without access to and/or ownership of arable land and the means to produce on said land there can be no group and self-determination. And if they cannot work for themselves and steer their own course, they will remain as subjects of these exploitative and impoverishing systems which we have already endured for too many generations. This is a Land Revolution. Without land we have no power. The UYFP was founded on that very basic idea.
The UYFP is a manifestation of the spirit and sweat of those most affected by poverty-the youth. The Ujamma Youth Farming Project was established in June 2005 and is an African youth-led farming cooperative that has secured a 100-acre plot in the city of Gweru under the Zimbabwe government's A1 resettlement program and is registered under the Ministry of Youth, Gender and Employment Creation.
Their immediate goal of this program is to sell produce to wholesalers and retail outlets in and around midland provinces in Zimbabwe.
One long term goal is to establish a training program such that youth of African descent from outside of Zimbabwe and even outside Africa will also visit, meet, train/work, and bond with their youth counterparts on the farm.
The Ujamma Youth Farming Project is assured success. The UYFP is continually making strides towards becoming a well managed and organized farming business enterprise, so that they can implement the latest techniques for farming produce, marketing, sales and produce delivery. For now the farming cooperative will be exclusively located in the Midlands Provincial capital, Gweru, and will use a competitive pricing policy paying particular attention to customer needs and care.
It is one of UYFP greatest hopes that the UYFP will be viewed as a model to be adopted by other sibling African nations on the continent and across the Diaspora. They are not only focused on enriching the people of Zimbabwe but also inspiring sibling nations towards improving upon or crafting new vehicles for their own self-empowerment.
This is an extensive project and it will take the multitudes to ensure its prolonged success. Their needs are many and come in various forms. Monetary contributions are absolutely crucial for ther organization to develop, but that is not the only assistance they recognize. Equally important to the coop are donations of farming tools and equipment, to cut back on project costs, UYFP information dissemination, administrative support, et cetera. And it is so important to you that you are able to see the fruits of your own investment. This is why they will be instituting a progress report system, where at least twice a year you will be informed on the changes and developments of the UYFP program. These reports will be sent out to the e-mail address we have recorded for you.
Now, if you are ready to further contribute and empower the youth coop to move even closer towards the actualization of their vision use the information provided here Donate To Ujamma
