What is a complete martial art? Does your martial arts training cover all of the areas that you consider essential for real-world effectiveness? Why or why not?

Asante Ndugu Obadele. Yebo, I think that our engagement with the martial arts, like our engagement with anything in life should be a "self-conscious" engagement. Meaning we should critically approach our training and constantly ask ourselves if our training is sufficient to confront the challenges that we may encounter.

Even though I don't know anything about martial arts, I'm always wanting to know more about it,especially if its from Afrika!

One of the dimensions of this discussion that I think is worth probing are how specific Afrikan martial arts can be employed in any of the above mentioned scenarios (see the poll). For instance, how would the Capoeira function in this context? Or Ijala? Or Dambe? Kwk.
