Default Understanding Heru-Set

Understanding Heru-Set

By
Naba Lamoussa Morodenibig

All the real schools of philosophy agree on one fact: the greatest human discovery in the domain of life and health preservation is not the product that is used, but the notion of quantity. The dosage. We have a tendency of thinking of the material world every time we think of quantity; but the dosage, in reality, covers the world and the universe. A popular wisdom says that everything done in excess is destructive. But every time we hear this truth, we visualize it in the small dimension of the world that we want to see.

The schools of Thebes, by introducing the concept of Heru-Set, have enlightened our consciousness on one fact; the notion of inseparable dualism in the middle of which anything that exists expresses itself.

Yes! We are more or less aware of the God-child Heru to which we are supposed to identify ourselves. Heru represents what we consider good. He is a favorable God, fighting for the preservation of the world and life. Yes! We are also more or less aware of the God Set, the ancestor God of the modern-day Satan. He is the God that has killed Wsr, the father of Heru. Set has caused a lot of suffering, tears, etc. We are also aware of the struggle between these two Gods. Heru fighting against Set to reclaim the kingdom of his father and to re-establish the name of his father.

The struggle between these two Gods has started since the beginning of existence, and it will continue. This struggle between Heru and Set is in reality the most important part of the holy drama! It is symbolized in every component of what exists.

This path of the holy drama has left a philosophical trap in which every human that abandoned himself to his emotions falls and becomes the cause of the destruction of the world - the holy drama informs us of the terrible fight between the God to which we identify ourselves and another God that is supposed wicked and even terrible! And since we didnÕt take time to notice that this is a matter of Gods happening in the world of the Gods and not in ours, we find ourselves with a feeling that we can help our favorite God as if we were anything else than mortals!

There is a God that is much less known by the public. But whose importance for our enlightenment is with no equal. He is called Heru-Set. He is physically represented by a human body with two heads, one of Heru and one of Set. Just by observing this God, we are forced to reconsider our opinoin of Set and Heru as enemies. They are surely two antagonistic Gods, but they are working together to maintain the existence of the world by a sort of balance of forces. Heru-Set is the God responsible for harmony that is favorable to life. We have a tendency of believing that Heru, or all the entities behaving in the name of Heru, will protect the world and existence. This is absolutely false. A person that is dying of thirst will be saved by a calabash of water, but if he jumps in the well of water, he will die by drowning. The one that is cold will be saved by fire, but he will die by excess of fire... The idea of doing good can become Òa perfect excuseÓ for destroying this world.

Gourmantche people have presented this concept very well by saying that the paths that lead to hell are paved with good intentions.

This is maybe why even the most destructive people maintain their motivation and believe they are good or are doing good in the world. The notion of Heru-Set is what allows this world to exist. Heru and Set come to present themeslves as two energetic forces going in opposite directions. The reality is, each one by themselves will take the existence toward destruction. The perfect example of the lack of Heru-Set is found maybe in the fact that all the doctrines and religions born with a goal of doing good to this world become those who cause the suffering, slavery, death and destruction.

In order to prevent the world from the dangers of unidirectional evolution of the human being, the schools of Thebes introduced the concept of Hefenu represented by a snake that is biting its tail. Without the notion of Heru-Set, every direction would lead to destruction. It is very important not to confuse a lack of Heru-Set with a situation of intellectual and spiritual dishonesty. In the case of lack of Heru-Set, the individual honestly believes his goals and motives. The person that refuses to punish their child believes honestly that this is a proof of love and does not have the intelligence to see that their child will live in a world that is a lot less tolerant. The one that aggresses in the name of his God believes honestly that he is helping his God and does not have the intelligence of noticing that his victim is, by principle. A divine creation... It is very important for the world that every individual observes themselves and applies the principle of Heru-Set to their lives. The excuses we find for our actions lose their value if at the end we see that we have only contributed to the destruction.

This is very interesting. I've never heard of the neter Heru-Set. I was aware of the importance of Heru and Set. The two together are intriguing. Before this, I had wondered about some sort of combination between these 2 Abosom in Akan spirituality as well. Hope I can find some more info on'em.

E pele Afrikans

Beeni, there is a deity called Heru-Set which is a later development in relation to the older pantheon. However, there are several problematic things concerning this article and the guy that wrote it. *He states:

"Yes! We are also more or less aware of the God Set, the ancestor God of the modern-day Satan...Set has caused a lot of suffering, tears, etc."

What?! This did stated that an Afrikan deity is an ANCESTOR to a fake european concept which never existed in spirit. But also a big problem with his statement is stating that Set has caused a lot of suffering, problems, kwk. This is ABSOLUTELY INNACURATE to borrow a phrase from Kwesi Ra Nehem Ptah Akhan. Set, like Esu, was a deity of communications, the crossroads, kwk. Set, could never be the cause of suffering. However, Set, like Esu, will administer the suffering and pain that YOU create for yourself. It is constantly spoken of in the Odu Ifa of the Ifa-Vodun (Orisa-Vodun) tradition that Esu (Set) constantly and greatly rewards those that do sacrifice. Those that do not do sacrifice will have great problems. That is why in our tradition there is a portion of all sacrifices that must go to Esu. We do not worship entities that are evil.

In relation to Heru-Set this guy states:

"They are surely two antagonistic Gods,..." *What?! There is no disharmony in the Afrikan spiritual realm. The disharmony comes from humans. We create conditions that lead to misunderstandings, tears, kwk. In the Orisa-Vodun tradition we call these conditions, beings, and situations elinini. These are born from Ori buruku or "bad ori" of the individual human condition.

It is interesting that this guy, the author of the above article, poses himself as a leader of sorts while teaching such DIRECT misinformation. This reminds me of some things that me and my elders down in Oyotunji were speaking about over the weekend while I was down there. These negroes, and yes the article is a negro, need to be called out because people's lives are in their hands. I wonder of Naba wrote that article or if his WHITE WIFE wrote it and he just put his name on it for validation?
