Sista ?errthang, you're saying that you'd like me to organize Abibitumi brothas to chat about relationships? Okay.

Sounds like WE need to get together and chat more about this. When options for Family Chat discussions were being put together, we included Sistas relating to Sistas (which is why the Sister Circle was put into place), Brothas relating to Brothas, and Sistas/Brothas relating to each other. Bro. Akhu, do you want to spearhead starting the discussion among the brothas? Then, we as a fam can come together and talk?

Agreed. Ours is a legacy of Ma'at and in all things we should be striving to attain Ma'atic perfection. Relationships are no different. Overall, I think his message is that our motives in relationships should be unselfish. The "I'm doing this for you cause I expect you to do this, that and the third for me" mentality really has self at the center. There can be no long lasting, Ma'atic relationship with "self" at the center. At the center of the relationship must be "we" and our giving in a relationship should "we" focused.

The other part of the lecture that I appreciated is his explanation of how people act when they are focused on or coming from rather a particular chakra. Help me put a lot of things into perspective.

Glad you found it useful bro.

Meda ase for this post. I am only on part 2, but I like a lot of what he has to say so far. I agree with him that many enter relationships out of a sense of loneliness; especially for those of us who have chosen to walk in the footsteps of our Nananom who it can become very tempting to "settle" because of the loneliness/isolation that we often feel.

I have to disagree with one thing that he said in part 2 though. He said something of the effect that we should enter relationships from a place of "giving" and he made an analogy that we should give like the sun - be overflowing with our giving. My thought is this too is imbalanced.

From what our Kongo Nananom told us the sun is a star that will eventually die (burn itself out). I would think that the ideal place that we should enter relationships from is from a place of reciprocity (Ma'at).

This makes me think of Anoa's utterance from Two Thousand Seasons:

"Turn from this generosity of fools. The giving that is split from receiving is no generosity but hatred of the giving self, a preparation for the self's destruction. Turn.

"Return to the way, the way of reciprocity. This headlong generosity too proud to think of returns, it will be your destruction. Turn."

Anybody else got any thoughts about that?
