Family – Circumcision

Circumcision

The circumcision is a practice existing in Africa since ancient times. More recently, Islam reinforced the practice making it compulsory. All Muslim communities practice it very strictly.

The circumcision is not only a surgery but it is part of the education of the young child; it constitutes the transition between youth (xaleel, “child”) and adult life (xaleelu goor, “young adult”). In fact, it is an initiation to certain values of the society, a socialization of the individual.
