Default Oyesina's Final Presentation

Mo féràn láti wæ a«æ Ilë Adúláwö. A«æ Ilë Adúláwö bu ælá fún mi, ó sì sàmì sí mi l'ôtö. Mo máa ñ wæ a«æ Ilë Adúláwæ nígbàkígba tí mo bá nlæ sí ohun ì«÷lë tí a«æ ælôlá pæn dandan fún wíwö sí ohun ì«÷lë náà. Irú a«æ kan náà ni a fí máa ñ «e a«æ òde ti àwæn ækùnrìn. Àwæn àp÷÷r÷ onírúurú a«æ tí ó wá nílë Yorùbá ni a«æ sányán àláárì, ÷tù, adìr÷, àti bêë bêë læ. Irú i«ê ænà kan náà ni a fi máa ñ «e sí ara a«æ ækùnrin nítorí náà a«æ köökan máa ñ ní i«ê ænà tó bá mu.

I enjoy wearing African clothing. African clothing gives me a sense of pride and distinction. I wear African clothing everytime I attend an event that requires formal attire. Men's formal attire us usually made from the same material. Some examples of the various types of cloth that exist in Yorubaland are reddish/ purple sanyan, etu, adire and so forth and so on. The same type of embroidering is done to the body of the men's outfit so that each piece of cloth has embroidery that matches.

A«æ ækùnrin ælôlá ni fìlà, bùbá, ëwù awölékè àti «òkòtò. Gêgê bí a «e máa ñ sæ Yorùbá tí ó bá wëwù wæ «òkòtò láídé fìlà ba oge jê. Orí«irí«i fìlà l'ó wà. Fún àp÷÷r÷, abetí ajá (làbàokádà), göbì, tìokó, fìlà oníd÷, fìlà alágbàá àti fìlà kátíkò. Yàtö sí fìlà, àwæn æba máa ñdé adé láti læ sí ay÷y÷ ñlá. Fìlà l'ó máa ñ fi ipò wa hàn l'áwùjæ.

Formal Attire for men consists of 4 pieces, a hat, shirt, formal undergown, overdown and long pants. There are different types of Yoruba hats, the the abeti aja, göbì, tìokó, fìlà oníd÷, fìlà alágbàá àti fìlà kátikò. Apart from fìlàs, rulers wear crowns on special occasions. Hats are ofter an indicator of status.

A«æ ælôlá ñlá awölékè fún ækùnrin ni gbáriyë, «apará, agbádá
àtí dàñdóógó. Gbáriyë jê a«æ awölékè tí ó gùn dé orúnkún tí apá rë kò gùn púpö. Gígùn tí àwæn apá gbáriyë gùn mú kí a lè fi wæn lé èjìká. Gbáriyë náà ni i«ê ænà níwájú láti örun dé àyà.
Agbádá yàtö sí gbáriyë. Agbádá l'ëwù tí ó gùn láti èjìká dé kókósë. Agbádá náà ní«ê ænà níwájú láti ærùn dé ibàdí.

Various overgowns are gbariye, sapara, agbada, and dandoogo. The gbariye is a knee length overgown with short sleeves. The sleeves on the gbariye are long enough to be draped over ones sholders. It is usually embroidered in the front from around the neck down to the chest. The agbada is different from the gbariye. The agbada is an ankle length gown. The embroidery on the front of the agbada extends from around the neck dow to the waist.

Ó y÷ kí a jà fún òmìnira. Ó y÷ kí a wo àwæn ëmí wa sàn. Nítori náà, a ní látí wæ a«æ Ilë Adúláwö púpö. Nígbà tí a bá wæ a«æ Ilë Adúláwö, ó fi ëmí wa gidi hàn nítòótô. Bí àwæn ènìyàn «e máa ñwò wá, a máa yàtö. Àwæn ènìyàn ní láti böwö fún wa. Àwæn ènìyàn kô bí a «e ñ kà wá sí fún irú ènìyàn tí a jê. B'ó «e y÷ k'ó rí nìy÷n.

It is proper that we fight for independence. It is proper that we heal our spirits. Therefore, wearing African clothing is very important. When we wear African clothing, it shows our true essence. People see us differently. People five us respect. People learn to appreciate you for who you (really) are. That's how it should be.

Mo júbà Olódùmarè, mo júbà gbogbo Òrì«à, mo júbà ará ìwájú mi Oyè«ínà Ògúnmôlá.

I give thanks to God, the Orisa and my ancestors.

Mo kí Orí mi, Orí nìkan, l'ó tó alásàán bá ròkun. Mo kí Æba Adéfúnmi èkejì Ælôyöôtúnjí. Mo sì tún kí àsìá ti Ilë Yorùbá. Mo kí gbogbo àwæn àgbàlagbà ti wôn pa à«à àti ì«e atæwôdæwô tàwæn eégún wa mô. Mo ka gbogbo yín sí. Mo ka Olùkô tìwa Æbadélé sí fún akitiyan àti sùúrù púpö. Ajé á wægbá o!

I salute my Ori, it is Ori alone that can travel with his devotee all over the world without turning back. I salute the king and the flag of the Yoruba Nation. I salute all the elders who perserved the customs and traditions of our ancestors. I appreciate all of you. I appreciate our teacher Obadele for giving effort and having patience. May riches enter your calabash.
