Nigerian Music and samples
MOTHERLAND NIGERIA: MUSIC AND SAMPLES (by Boomie O.)
There are many different styles of Nigerian music. I find it difficult to describe music styles, so I've included some samples of different types of music. Please note that these are samples of music from my collection, and not the only types of Nigerian music. I have tried to link to other sources when I can find them, and if you have other sound samples that you can send me, let me know. CONTENTS OF THIS PAGE
The only affiliations I have with any of the links on this page are with CDNOW (which is now combined with MusicBoulevard) and Amazon.com.
You need a somewhat recent version of RealPlayer to listen to these sound clips. For those not familiar with RealPlayer (or RealAudio), it plays the stream while you are connected, there is no need to download the file. Just click on the name of the song, and the song will start playing (and now the music is streamed for faster access). If you are familiar with African songs, you know that most of them can get to be quite long, sometimes over 15 minutes each. These are just samples from the songs. For each clip, I have included the size in KB and the length in seconds.

If you don't have RealPlayer, you can download it for free by clicking on this icon, which will take you to the site in a new window. |

If you've been to the Yoruba language section, you know that the alphabet consists of another 'e', 'i', and 'o' written with dots under them. On this page, italicized 'e's, 'i's, and 'o's stand for the corresponding letters with the dots under them.
If I know of places where you can buy the artist online, clicking on their name will take you to that part of this page where you can do that (mostly at Music Boulevard or CDNOW. Some of them may have discographies at other online music stores, so check your favorite one if you are interested). Also, there are artists that I don't have where I do know where you can buy them online, I've included them in the buy it section.

OTHER SITES WITH SAMPLES
Like my site, some of these sites have sound samples, but you may not be able to buy directly on their page. Some of the buy it online links below have sound samples as well.
- FemiKuti.net which is Femi Kuti's site (Fela's son).

- BIAMILA which includes sound samples from:
