BOOM! FIRST TRAILER, PICS + RELEASE DATE FOR KATHRYN BIGELOWS DETROIT BOASTS A SOLID CAST OF FAMILIAR FACES







Detroit tells the gripping story of one of the darkest moments during the civil unrest that took place over five haunting summer days in 1967. The film explores systemic racism in urban Detroit.


An August 4, 2017 release date is set; this year marks the 50th anniversary of the riots.


The feature, Oscar-winning director Bigelows tenth as a director, is financed by Annapurna Pictures. Its also on the S&A Oscar 2018 predictions list.


Bigelow is a two time Oscar winner for producing and directing The Hurt Locker. Boal is a two time Oscar-winner for producing and writing The Hurt Locker. Bigelow, Boal and Ellisons previous collaboration, Zero Dark Thirty, received five Oscar nominations including best picture and best screenplay.
