Do you work as hard for yourself/Race as you do for "others"?
Another vow I have, to never work harder for others than I do for my family, my egbe, and my race
That scale for me has been tipping more and more to our side over the years. 100% is the goal. Ain't there yet.

Yes and no. I definitely don't work harder for others. If it doesn't involve or advance any of the aforementioned parties I don't do it. And even within that my family and my egbe take up the majority of my activity. However, I am still am not 100% in control of my time as I would like to be. However, it is coming (within the next 12 to 18 months).

It's good that you don't work harder for others. sounds like you're well on your way.
Definitely feel like I am working more for others than myself and family. I am encouraged when I see others who have successfully stepped out of the rat race. Knowing is 95% of the battle --> little by little, transforming the way I think and perceive, truly this fuels my actions.

It's over 50%. And with projects and work I have going on it will increase for the next year. Most of it involves organizational work and the rest is personal/family development. But to me they are one and the same. Anyone looking to do work less for others I encourage them to join an organization that's about doing for Kmtyws. Sometimes we continue to work for others because we're not finding and doing work for Kmtyws. We best believe there's a lot of work we need done and workers to do it. Then roll that work into personal/family development, again they go hand-in-hand. We'll all be rewarded by this.

Over 50% is good and since you're working with organizations, this one included, I'm sure that will only increase ***cough, video lecture series, cough***. I agree. They complement each other to be sure.
The 95% for me represents my personal challenge of re-orienting my mind. The 5% represents the action --> once I am clear, the work is easy because I get it. To answer what I think is your question, I am currently working to get my first born vested in developing a cottage industry. I am also planning to home school her in the upcoming school year. For myself, I am working on academic development (cpa), as well as developing skills (gardening, building, sewing) as a primary means of employment within 10 years.

That's an interesting take because usually getting the idea is easier for people than doing the work and actually putting the ideas into practice. Those are BlackTastic goals. I'm glad you're not gung-ho about dumping your daughter in public schools to have her psychologically abused by her enemies. Those skills should allow her to feed, shelter and clothe herself (and others) as well. Make it happen, cap'n! :soldiert:
Personally, I DEFINITELY work harder for my family and race than I do for non-Kmtyws. Any benefits to non-Kmtyws where any exist would be tangential at best. That said, I have a thing where I work harder for other Kmtyws than I do for myself. Some of you may have noticed my own posting activity here increasing exponentially over the past month. I took a look at myself and on another forum, I accumulated 10,000 posts in 4 years while here at aK I only have 8,000 in 6 years. Not that posting is the only measure of work (as up to a month or so ago with @Ajamu (http://www.abibitumikasa.com/forums/member.php?u=3214) and @Yaw Asare Aboagye (http://www.abibitumikasa.com/forums/member.php?u=7644) helping our with the backups, EVERYTHING on the back-end/coding/infrastructure was done by yours truly), but in looking at myself teaching at Kmtyw-centered schools and other things that I've done for other Kmtyws I had to take a look and say, hey, this is OUR institution. I should always be putting in significantly more work here than elsewhere; treating everything I do here like how I treat my "jobs" elsewhere. So that was the inspiration for this thread and this poll. Brothers and sisters, this is OURS. I, for one, am acting like it! How about you?
Excellent poll and conversation. Although I am only 1 1/2 years into redefining my Kmtyw consciousness and over 2 years into common sense consciousness, the most challenging discovery about my mis-education is how deep it was. Without pause learning about varies events, elders, information and compiling that with my common sense we left corporate and began to build a liberated experience. That challenging discovery happen during the first 8 months of running my business where I realized that the ability to come up with great ideas and execute had been practiced on our oppressors for 8 years and prior to that, was practiced and taught through formal education. Since this revelation we have been great strives from not going to certain stores to even fighting back against the MTA in our way by only paying one way and walking back the return trip. The ideas are finally starting to fulfilled Kmtyw needs and now we are working on fulfilling some of our own especially around financial gain.

Greetings Obadele, it's still working. The biggest challenge is the lack of a progressive network. Not to say they don't exist but one that caters to Kmtyw centered goals I.e. independent cultural practices that don't have to be cosigned by oppressors. A desire to control our food resources and I don't mean lobbying to get more fast food spots and of course economic circles that build wealth for community.
