Title: Why do Kmtyws revert back to traditional religions for justice?-gctid191989
Post by: Tenkamenin on Jul 07, 2016, 07:43 PM
Our traditional spirituality is often associated with wickedness, evil, etc. However when things go wrong, for example, a person is cheated by a friend, the victim will invoke the gods against the cheater. Why are they unable to get justice from their religions like Christianity? Are these people really Christians?

I will post articles and videos to support this post.

The family of 27-year-old Osei Tawiah in Krofrom in the Ashanti region made a 'statement' when his body was laid in state, Thursday.

Residents were in agreement with the mourning family to place a broom, a machete and a bullet in the coffin.
Also in the coffin was a bullet cartridge, eggs, a sponge, a pair of shoes, a cap, pepper and other items.

The family who said they didn't want the presence of the police at the event also invoked curses on the killers of Tawiah.

The late Osei Tawiah was allegedly brutalised to death by the police on May 26 at Krofrom, a suburb of Kumasi.

The items, according to the relatives of the deceased are meant to aid Tawiah in the spirit world to avenge his death.

Nhyira FM's Kwasi Debrah reports that an aunt of the deceased told him she had had what the Akans call 'nsamankom' (a trance that enables the living to interact with the dead) during the one-week celebration.
The aunt said he instructed the family through her to put the items in the coffin to avenge his untimely death.
Another relative spoke of having a vision Wednesday instructing him to do same by the deceased.

The family was earlier refused the body after they had contested the autopsy report performed by Dr Osei Sampane, Head of the Pathology Department at KATH on June 1, 2016, which said he died of natural causes.

The report concluded that Tawiah died of a heart attack.
Following their rejection of the autopsy report, the hospital gave the family an option: to either go to a private pathologist to conduct an independent autopsy or present a letter to KATH indicating they had accepted the first autopsy report based on which the body would be released.

He was sent to Juansa where he was buried.

http://www.graphic.com.gh/news/general-news/ecg-workers-in-accra-oda-protest-against-privatisation-of-company.html (http://www.graphic.com.gh/news/general-news/ecg-workers-in-accra-oda-protest-against-privatisation-of-company.html)

Employees of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region and the Accra East Regional Office of the company  yesterday staged separate peaceful demonstrations against the privatisation of the company by the government.

The placard-bearing demonstrators, who wore red armbands, with red scarves around their necks to show that they were furious, amid drumming, singing and dancing, backed their action with a sit-down strike.
The demonstrations were planned to mark the celebration of the Public Service International Day.

At Oda, the protestors chanted slogans such as: "NDC government, pay the huge debts owed ECG", "Stop privatisation of ECG",  and "No  foreign investment is needed in managing ECG".

They also invoked curses on anybody who would spearhead the privatisation of the ECG and threatened to campaign against the President Mahama-led NDC in the November 7, 2016 general election.

The Spokesperson for the demonstrators, Mr Charles Yeboah, said the ECG workers were against the privatisation of the company because it would lead to the dismissal of employees, with its attendant socio-economic problems for them and their dependants.

He said the workers' contention was that if the government paid the huge debts it owed the ECG, the company would be able to operate efficiently and to the satisfaction of all.

In Accra, the protesting workers, for two hours, converged on the forecourt of the ECG's Accra East station, singing and chanting war songs.

They held placards with messages such as: "Mr President, think about the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian", "Concession is not the best solution to the power challenge",  and "Power Ministry, stop buying meters for us; we can buy our own meters", among others.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the National Secretary of the Senior Staff Union of the ECG, Mr Patrick Tetteh Binyemi, said the workers staged the demonstration to register their displeasure at the government's intended privatisation of the company.

He contended that listing the company on the Ghana Stock Exchange would be a better option.

"There are capable Ghanaians who can manage this company. We don't want foreigners. Our problem now is with the invisible hands; there is a lot of interference from external sources in our operations as a company," he alleged.

"We don't understand why we started a two-year strategic business unit in the Ashanti Region on a pilot basis, to be replicated in other regions based on its success, and just six months into the initiative, the government wants to hand over the company to foreign investors without waiting for a proper assessment of the initiative," he said.

Mr  Binyemi said privatisation would lead to loss of jobs, as the concession was for 25 years.

He said the new owners, according to the agreement, would have the liberty to cut down the size of the workforce after the first five years.

Mr Binyemi reiterated that if the government settled its indebtedness to the ECG, which he said constituted about 40 per cent of the company's debt,  "we could turn around the fortunes of this company.  Surprisingly, the government has indicated its readiness to pay its debts to the new investors but it is not ready to clear its debts with the current managers," he alleged further.

This young girl went to the river to curse her ex-boyfriend for releasing their sex tape online.

She claims the guy intentionally leaked the video to disgrace her after they broke up some few weeks ago. Instead of going to the Police to make a report, she decided to invoke a river deity to curse the young man.
The question is, why did you even allow the guy to take a video during your enjoyment?.. Lets hope she has learnt her lessons.

Also to get the finer things in life people are involved in ritual killings which usually involve a "traditional priest/priestess" or Mallam. These ritual killings are often associated with our traditional spirituality. This is really disturbing!

The menstruation of a 15 –year- old girl saved her from being kidnapped for ritual purpose by unknown assailants in the Wassa Amenfi East District of the Western Region.

The mother of the victim, Madam Esther Ankomah, told the media on Friday that her daughter was kidnapped by unknown people last Monday, May 9, at Wassa Akropong around 1700 hours when she was attending choir meeting.

She said, the daughter told her after the rescue that the kidnappers took her to an unknown location, however, when the assailants were undressing her, they noticed that she was in her menstrual period, therefore, the fetish priest told them she was not suitable for the rituals because her condition so she was sent back.

However, to avoid the Police from tracking them, she said the kidnappers blinded-folded her with black handkerchief and left her at a nearby school at Wassa Akropong on Tuesday May 10 and called her parents to come for her using the victim's phone.

The District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Isaac Kumnipa, stated that although the victim's mother reported the missing of her daughter on that fateful day they received information about the girl's discovery the next day.

Therefore, he said, the Police gave the victim's parents medical forms to attend hospital for medical examination but the girl declined to go.

"In this case, we cannot compel her to go to hospital because that's her human rights, therefore the Police cannot ascertain the truth in the reported kidnap," he stated.

ASP Kumnipa, however, advised Ghanaians to be vigilant, especially when approached by strangers for assistance since they cannot easily verify their intentions.

A person goes to church 24-7 and encounters a little hardship, instead of looking inwards the person blames somebody else for inflicting spiritual harm. What's the point in going to church if you can't develop a strong spirit?

It appears that our religion is only responsive against us because it did not deter the white man from stealing our land and imposing their God/religion on us.

We invoke more curses against each other than those that oppress us. Wassup with that?

The white man was able to steal our land only when he was able to convince our people that his religion is superior. After all his god allowed him to make guns and canons. These are what impressed the locals into accepting his religion because before that the power of thunder and lightening were only wielded by the Priests, but it seemed every white man they came into contact with had that power in a short or long stick. That was to the locals impressive, because if they accepted his religion they could have that power. "Curses" and what not were used in the battles against the white man, but these aren't going to be full proof if the enemy has some of the locals fighting for them, locals who know how to negate many of the hexes thrown against the white man. Plus there was a great deal of arrogance on the part of the Kmtyw kings who chose to underestimate the white man.

When a King dies his servants are usually made to accompany him in the journey to the land of the ancestors. These servants become the "Sacrifice" ,that is, they are killed. But this practice was severely frowned upon after a while and was discontinued long before a white man showed his face in coastal west Kmt.

In one of his Foundations of  Kmtyw Thought lectures @Obadele Kambon said that human sacrifice in  (some?) Kmtyw countries historically functioned as deterrent to  anti-social or criminal behavior when culprits couldn't be identified.

QuoteTenkamenin;191989 wrote: Why are they unable to get justice from their religions like Christianity?
Well because the Christian God is the God of Israel. So he only does justice for 'white' people.

QuoteTenkamenin;191989 wrote: Are these people really Christians?
No, because Kmtyws aren't Judeans. That's why those of us Kmtyws who are Christians try unsuccessfully to Kmtywize Chritianity and its God. It's a fools errand because that God wasn't made by or for us, so he can never work for us no matter how much we try to improve his color.

Yes that is true, in one of my Asante history books there's a letter from a Traditional Ruler that says exactly that, human sacrifice of criminals deterred his people from doing evil. I will post the exact quote later today.

It is very sad. Kmt is quickly losing its authenticity. For a long time we have known about the "white washed" states of mind many of our cultural caretakers have been in. This is one of the most salient reasons why Kmt is in such a deplorable state, for our problem is indeed a spiritual problem! Continental Kmtyws are quickly losing their indigenous belief and spiritual systems. Along with Language the future rise of the continent and its people around the globe depends on this(our indigenous spiritual systems).

Their are traditional rites that had to be performed for her to be a Queen mother, moreover she has traditional obligations that require the invocation of divinities and the Ancestors. I bet behind the scenes she fulfills them but she somehow rationalizes it biblically. I do know a ruler that does not perform his traditional obligations and the town is a mess. Back to the topic, there's something fundamentally wrong with the Christian form of justice that makes us revert back to tradition. I remember reading a story awhile back about a taxi driver who hit and killed a lady and sped off, a hit and run. However due to his conscience he turned himself into the police. When asked why he turned himself in, he cited that his ancestors made him do it. Perhaps the lady's family invoked the divinities? I'll have to find thst article because it was remarkable.

Perhaps you're right about the unwillingness of Kings to perform traditional rites leading to the deplorable states of their respective holdings. But I must confess that almost all of the holdings of our kings are not in a much better state irrespective of whether they fulfill their traditional obligations or not. Although Ewes have managed to hold tightly to their traditions and thus have maintained a sort of 'heaven on Earth' kind of state in some if not most of their communities. But the Akans sadly have not been able to do as much, since purely traditional communities are quickly becoming extinct amongst the Akan. It is not surprising since they were the Main target for the eureurasiaan missionaries.

I understand you good brother. But in this there shall be no reversion. In our maturation process it is only wise, smart and proper to take up our own Traditions and Spiritual systems for continued growth. We are Not going to revert, for our present state in itself is reversion. For we have fallen from A Great height. Our Salvation lies in the true unadulterated knowledge of our past.

How much of this is attributable to initiates knowing rituals but not much (or enough) of the theology underlying them? This was another thing Kambon mentioned in the philosophy lectures and it really stood out to me.

Pastor's wife invoke 'Antoa Nyama' on church member

A 35-year-old pastor's wife has invoked curses on a church member for allegedly having an affair with her husband.

The angry woman, Janet Akosua Amoako claimed she caught her husband red-handed in the lady’s room eating dinner.

“We are all in the same church but all of a sudden my husband started behaving strangely till I caught him talking on phone with that woman. She has been pestering my husband and calling him everyday even at night and even cooking for him to eat," she explained to Nhyira FM's Naa Amerley Thursday.

Akosua noted that, her suspicion heightened when her husband, who is a deacon in a popular church in Kumasi, began sleeping outside and coming home at dawn.

It was at this stage the mother of a 40-day-old baby physically confronted and invoked the dreaded 'Antoa Nyama' deity on the lady who is also a member of the Women's Ministry for wrecking her home.

Akosua Amoako revealed that, when the issue was brought to the attention of church elders, the lady was expelled from the church but she still continued the amorous relationship with her husband whose name was only given as Deacon Kennedy.

When she confronted her husband about the issue, the angry deacon rather sent his wife packing from her matrimonial home.

To make matter worse, Akosua said the husband has disconnected electricity from the house they share because she refused to move out of the house.

The distraught woman added that, her husband later hired a truck and packed all her things it and took them to her relatives to end their marriage.

In a rebuttal, Deacon Kennedy described as palpable lies the allegations being level against him by his ex-wife.

“I am very shocked that this woman thinks that am cheating on her. I was even preparing to get married to her fully since we have children together but I decided to back out of the marriage because of her behavior towards me and so I find it hard to believe the allegations leveled against me” he noted.

Meanwhile, parents of the deacon has vowed to support their son even if he cheated on his wife.

They explained that, their son is old enough to know what is good for him.
