What happens when you depend on your enemies? More specifically, when this enemy governs you?
They can poison black people's water sources like in Flint, Michigan (2016).
They can bomb your city like the U.S. government did to black people in Tulsa, Oklahoma (1921).
They can spend years sterilizing over 100,000 black women in the United States by threatening to take away food stamps (Medical Apartheid, Harriet Washington).
They can turn black lives matter movements into all lives matter discussions while you're still the only group being slaughtered.
The possibilities are endless and the list goes on.
But the most confusing enemy, is the one that looks like you. They are not only the Condeleeza Rice's and Barack Obama's of America--they are President Nkurunziza of Burundi who decided to forcefully take a third term of presidency, or President Museweni of Uganda who nabbed the country's seat for a fifth term earlier this year.
What do these Kmtyw presidents have in common with other nations such as Mali, Chad, Niger, & Congo-Brazzaville? Any ideas?
Answer: The government has turned off their access to social media at least once due to chats being conducted and protests or movements that were being established which would challenge goverment control.
This is an international problem for the black man.
Our ancestors, such as Honorable Marcus Garvey, understood that we needed our own means of communication if we expected our story to be told from our perspective (The Negro World Newspaper, 1918). Today, we are no longer being enslaved by visible chains. We are so brainwashed now that we send our children to MIS-education centers by choice. Former colonial schools, American public schools, & religious institutions were not meant for Black/Kmtyw progress. We send our babies to these schools to learn from a group of people who have historically never desired our well-being. Would a chicken leave its eggs to hatch under a snake's supervision? We finish school and CHOOSE to go work for a system that has failed us time and time again.
Now back to the main topic at hand...Why was the social media turned off?
These governments felt like their power was being challenged. In a society where we work to earn money to buy goods from the same institutions that oppress us, what more can we expect when we attempt to stand up against them? How do we expect to mobilize using the tools of and under the surveillance of the very people we intend to break free from? We are working for hard earned money just to around and fund our own oppression by buying from the hands that poisons us. It's time to produce your own stuff, else how can you bite the hand that feeds you?

I have said all this to say--don't take abibitumikasa.com for granted. We need to begin to support those who support us and criticize anything that puts our well being under threat.
