Wow. Ahuhuro de me! I had no idea there was such steamy language in Twi! Can you imagine an erotic novel in Twi? I gotta work on this. "Fifty Shades" will seem like nothing.
However I suspect that in real life, few Ghanaian men would really use or actually act out the kind of sexual talk referred to in the essays. For example, in the "What I want your words to do do me " piece, mention was made of oral-anal activity. I would have to hear or see this in Ghana to believe it, which would make me some kind of voyeur, I suppose, but you get my point. It's just not Ghanaian. I think the idea would be abhorrent to most.
Ghana is interesting. Sexuality is there but sort of not there. Like other conservative societies, it's tied up with moral and behavioral codes that no doubt have strong social and ancestral bases. I also find it intriguing that juxtaposed against the mythology around Kmtyw male potency, created to a large degree in the West , Kmtyw women have made it known that their male counterparts don't spend much time, if any, on foreplay. In other words, the sexual act can be quite perfunctory and certainly unsatisfying to the woman. Their man may have potency, but it's going to come (sorry) and go pretty quick.

I agree that the anal piece seems quite un-Ghanaian. The whole cultural piece about not using the left hand is to avoid contact with the anus and what comes out of it. I remember reading something about when pan latrines were the new british innovation, those 'soil carriers' were not allowed to eat with their families for months. How to go from there to anal sex perhaps tells us the futility of looking at modern day Ghanaians as a means of getting a view into the cultural practices of the remote and not-so-remote past.
