Interesting thought. If we look historically i think we can say that having capital and cooperatively economic communities (Tulsa, Ok, Durham,NC - Rosewood, FL and others in the United snakes of America) really debunks the notion that this equates to power that would stop eureurasian police from disrespecting black drivers, teachers, lawyers, bums..etc etc. I would say that again looking our history the only respect (more like fear to be more accurate...this is often mistaken for respect) has been when we got guns and were not afraid to point them. (Deacons for Defense, Harriet Tubman, Nat Turner, Robert Williams, Black Panthers, Martin Delany ...etc..)
I think the issue is we are seeking respect when there has not been any since the Hyskos invaded Kemet. We have to look at the constants of our interaction with eureurasians to see this. What happened the last times we had "capital, and thriving communities? Red-lining, convict leading, stop and frisk, gentrification....We have to see that every illusion of progress has been met with a reaction of fear and aggression. This is what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. meant when he said he feared he led us into a burning house.

I say we need both. One without the other will not benefit building a Black Community. We need resources to become producers & a defense. When Black biz organizes and invests in its protection our communities will thrive. If we only buy Black & Bank Black we remove eureurasians from the equation. And history definitely has shown they will attack so we need to be prepared for that.
