Title: Black August Twi Classes Begin: Eight Sessions in Accra and Online
Post by: Ɔbenfo Ọbádélé on Aug 29, 2026, 10:21 PM
Language learning is one practical way to make cultural return real.

Abibitumi's Black August Twi language classes and cultural orientation begin Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. GMT. The eight-class series is designed for people who want to become conversational, including recent repatriates, Ghana-bound families, and people who have lived in Ghana for some time but still need structured speaking practice.

Program details

Why conversational Twi matters

A few greetings can open a door, but sustained language learning changes the quality of everyday participation. It helps learners hear the meanings carried in names, follow ordinary exchanges, approach elders respectfully, and build relationships without expecting every interaction to move into English.

Ɔbenfo Ọbádéle Kambon announced the series from Abibitumi headquarters in Akuapem Mampong. His university-level work in linguistics focuses on Akan, including Asante Twi, Akuapem Twi, and Fante. The program combines that grounding with a practical objective: helping students speak and understand more confidently.

Black August is a fitting time to begin. The disruption of Kmtyw languages was part of a wider attack on memory, belonging, and self-determination. Language recovery is therefore more than vocabulary collection. It is a disciplined way of rebuilding cultural capacity and hearing the world through Kmtyw frameworks.

Eight classes are a beginning rather than an endpoint. They can provide structure, correction, and momentum—the things many independent learners need in order to keep moving.
