I will read the rest of this but after reading the first paragraph I'm not surprised. Well it was something I already new. I learned this years ago and while attending a Sankɔfa Conf, I believe it was Baba Agyei that said we Kmtyws here (u.s.) do have the ability to show Kmtyws on the continent the value of our tradition. You, me, @Obadele Kambon, @Agya Kwaku and others learning and knowing Akan (Twi) can/will let those Kmtyws in Ghana that don't want to learn Akan the value in learning it and why. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Kmtyws on the continent mimicking the foolish behavior we act out here.
I read the article. It just truly lets us know how much work we need and have to do. I remember years ago something Baba Agyei of Sankɔfa Fie said that Kmtyws in the diaspora can teach Kmtyw on continent something about tradition. Well the article highlights a challenge Kmtyws in the diaspora have and it is vital we learn the languages we have. Because its clear those Kmtyw polled in this survey are not valuing their native tongues and not respecting enough the other native tongues around them. I think us coming from the "outside" can heavily influence these type Kmtyws and let them know our languages are worth of more respect than cultural others lingo.
