I would like to start a KIKONGO (Kimanianga) study group two weeks from now.
The goal would be to acquire and apply the basics of KIKONGO (Kimanianga) as quick as possible.

I am interested. How long will the sessions last? The times are an issue for me. I don't like being late. I would show up when I can. Maybe there will be a recording or notes of what was gone over made available.
I would like to participate but the time is not good for me. Later around 6pm would be better but if 4pm is better for everyone else keep it there and I will try to tear time away to be present.

The sessions would last at least 1 hour. I hope we'll be able to record it, I'll look into that.
Times might change if the majority of people interested need for it to be a little later.

Yes it's Kikongo-french, but I will translate the book as we go along.
The book is composed of 20 lessons, each with exercises and vocabulary. The format is a bit like the Lingala lessons (http://www.abibitumikasa.com/forums/lingala-language-resources/77155-lingala-lessons-w-audio.html#post90094).

I admit that translating from french to english is extra work but I think that the Kikongo Grammar's format is a bit harder.
On the other hand, the format of these lessons is really a step by step process. It is more basic, but I think it's perfect for an introduction to such a complex language.
The author of the book's advice is that the grammar part can be deepened using the "Cours de Kikongo" by Dereau (which is also in french) even though its Kikôngo variety is Kindibu, so I think that the same could be done with the Kikongo Grammar document.
Here's how I see it, I would post two lessons a week so that everyone can read them. We would have to study the lessons outside the group, take notes on what we don't understand and try to get a hold of what we do understand. We then would get together and work on them, ask/answer each other questions, do/create exercises, kwk.

@ManiKongo I definitely appreciate highly your efforts here. I am glad you found us! For me, I want to be a part of the group but realistically my participation will likely be spotty. Meaning, I will show up when I can but do not count on me to be a staunch participant. The time of the class does not match well with schedule. The format you laid out looks good. Roll on Brother with the good work.

Matondo mingi ! It's all good, a little participation is better than none. I think that everyone will have its own pace. And if we adopt the format that I've talked about, the lessons will be posted in the forum anyway.

The lessons being posted, you will have things to look over between classes. I plan on coming to class with the next week's lessons ready to be posted so unless you really go fast and are in advance, the translation would not be a problem.

The starting date has been pushed back. The time/day will stay the same for now.

I see that this thread is a few years old, however I am interested in learning KIKONGO. I believe studying KIKONGO well help me gain a deeper understanding of "The Mbongi" which was originally written in KIKONGO. is anyone on this thread still active?
