This case indicts this system so completely, please take a few moments and watch a recent news clip of Debbie and her family members: Breaking News videos from KABC - Los Angeles - Southern California - Local News & Weather Video (http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/video?id=6707472)

Many of us have had loved ones also go through a relentless struggle against cancer, and know how much love, support, and strength it takes. I cannot even imagine what that must be like from where Debbie sits behind bars. Below is her address so that you may send her a card or note of encouragement.

You can help bring about justice!  Deborah Peagler has been wrongfully incarcerated for over 26 years.  Sign the online petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/free-debbie-peagler (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/free-debbie-peagler) to support Deborah's release at her upcoming May 28 parole hearing.

Background
Deborah Peagler has been incarcerated since 1983 for her connection to the murder of the man who abused her, forced her into prostition, and who molested her six year-old daughter.  Before the death of her batterer, Deborah had tried to obtain help from police, but they only held her batterer in jail for a night--even though he swore he would kill Deborah.  After he was released, two men killed her batterer and Deborah was charged with planning the crime, despite the fact that the prosecution's own key witness against her "committed perjury" (according to a secret memo written by the prosecutors at the time).  In 2005, prosecutors offered her a deal in writing for her freedom, but they renegged after Deborah refused to waive any future civil claims, such as those that she could file for wrongful imprisonment.  Even her former batterer's family supports her release.  Now she has been diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer and doctors say she will not live to see 2010.  It is time to set this woman free to let her spend her remaining days with her family.
