Very interesting. That Kmtyw cultures (the very ancient ones) originally had a strong matriarchal bent is something I've also read in Mutwa's works. He talks about the oldest Kmtyw cultures like the Wakimbi (modern day Kamba people) and and also about the Baluba in Eastern Kmt (apparently not as old as the former) who came up with great ancient cultures that were run by "the Mothers", where the only laws were the 'High Laws' and High Magic (fear of breaking the High Laws) was used to rule the people, rather than force, human law and physical punishment. There was peace in the land. Kmtyw people back then were more afraid of breaking the law and facing the wrath of the Spirits or the magical abilities of the powerful Mothers, rather than even dying in battle.

There are stories in Indaba, My Children where the High Cultures of the Kamba people and the Luba people were threatened and eventually destroyed by warrior-type Kmtyw groups. Mutwa actually holds the Baluba culture in such high regard (if you have Mutwa's book Indaba, My Children you could check out the chapters "The Spawn of the Dragon" (Maasai) in Book 1 to read the story relating to the Kamba/Wakimbi, and "The Religion and Beliefs of the Bantu - Part 1" in Book 4 to read about the greatness of the Baluba people at the height of their culture)
Mutwa says in the chapter The Religion and Beliefs of the Bantu - Part 1 of Indaba, that:
"The Ba-Ntu, or the Ba-Tu, were the founders of our culture and our religion. And being a solid, uniform nation they were at peace for thounited snakesnds of years. They were not ruled by chiefs, but by a High Council of the Mothers of the People - that is, all the Witches and Sybils over the age of forty. At this time the Strange Ones, the Phoenicians, or Ma-Iti, who came some five to six hundred years BC, and the slave-raiding aAmws were things of the distant future. The Ba-Tu were at peace among themselves because a High Curse was laid upon any person who stole as much as a single grain of corn from his neighbour, crime was totally unknown. There were warriors-elect who stationed themselves along trading routes at regular intervals, to protect travellers and traders against attack, not by human beings, but by wild animals. Man, in Kmt at least, had not yet thought of offending a fellow man, physically or otherwise. The ruling Council of the Mothers of the People used magic and naked intimidation to exercise control over all the people. These people had no fear of death; they knew it as something inevitable which had to come sooner or later, and capital punishment had no meaning whatsoever. There are some links between matriarchy and matrilineality. In Kmt, some of the cultures that still have a strong bent toward one or both of these are the Tuareg, the Akan, the Khoe Khoe and the KhoiSan peoples. As all know, the KhoiSan are the most ancient of current Earth humans (together with the Sandawe of Tanzania). Today the Luba/Baluba are said to have a patriarchal orientation overall but there is much in their culture that still reflects the matriarchal. Also Akan culture is lunar-centered, rather than solar-centered and this can be seen as a slant towards the goddess current, towards IS-IS (Ast).
Elsewhere on the planet, large cultures with strong matrilineal/matriarchal bents are found in eurasia (among some of the peoples of India, Indonesia-Sumatra, China and among the Polynesians), and some Native Indian groups such as the Iroquois, all of whom have ancient cultural associations. Yet all over Kmt and in many parts of eurasia, a good deal of the ancient small tribal groups are still mostly matriarchal. A lot of the Mossi in West Kmt, the Jola in Senegal/Casamance, the Plateau Nigerians and isolated Kmtyws off the coast of Guinea all have strong matriarchal leanings.
Before I get into this any further, I just have one question. And this may actually be an oxymoronic question since what is described in the original post is essentially a utopia. But I'll take the risk and ask anyway.
What were the negatives/ drawbacks/ evils of matriarchal rule?
I wonder...well I suppose from a martial/military point of view, in Kmt the matriarchal cultures may not have been as aggressive as the (supposedly) more conquest-bent patriarchal cultures, so the matriarchal cultures may have been more prone to being invaded and taken over by the patriarchal cultures, because the matriarchal cultures may've been more oriented toward "keeping things as they are" rather than toward expansion and conquest.
It was Kmtyw men, led by their war chiefs and war leaders, who conquered and expanded, rather than Kmtyw women. It seems as if the High Council of the Mothers of the People may not have been interested in that (speculation on my part). So perhaps the "sitting matriarchal cultures" were open to invasion by roving bands of patriarchal warriors. There is perhaps some truth to this, since some of the previously matriarchal cultures that became patriarchal were old Kmtyw tribes that had been in the same place for ages.
So that could have been one of the weaknesses or negative aspects of Kmtyw matriarchal culture: weaker martial/military abilities compared to the patriarchal cultures (but that could also have meant that the matriarchal cultures were more 'civilized').
I like the way Dahomey warriors trained, young boys had older warriors as mentors, and there were female regiments, their culture was totally that of a warrior. Wars of conquest are about effective strategy and organization but also about effective equipment and skill. The whites won wars against native peoples because they had more effective technology and often, more manipulative strategy. Over and over again, native peoples lost because of strategy and technology. But now I'm going off topic.
