Odun Ifa and Iwure

Saturday, August 29th, 2009 is the much awaited day for our 8th Odun Ifa in Southern California. From this minute on, join me in chanting the following verse of an Odu Ifa:
Obara eguntan
Ori isin san isin
Ori eja lo da eja si inu ibu [omi]
Difa fun Orunmila
Ifa nlo si aye aye-tun-ye.. .
Pepeye mi ree o, Ifa
Emi nikan soso ni aye yo ye
Gbogbo awa omo Orisa olooto ni aye yo ye, ase
Obara I-have-been- rid-of-bad- spells
Isin's destiny is good
Fish was destined for the waters [Fish thrive in water because of their aquatic nature]
Divined for Orunmila
Baba (Orunmila) shined, shined, shined, and continues to shine...
Ifa, I present my offering of pepeye*
May I reap a life of abundant success [may I be blessed with abundant ire: may I shine!]
Expanded: May all Omo Orisas be blessed with abundant IRE [May we all shine!]
Ase.
If you will not be able to attend the celebration on Saturday, bless yourself with the chant, and send the positive vibration to us at the festival. May Ogun work with Esu and be in charge of the festival on the 29th for maintenance of peace. May Oya work with Sango for aerial support and protection. May Olokun work with Osun for tranquility and coolness. May ile (ground) work with Ori so we may be on our side of ile (on top of the ground) for a very long time--in good health. May all the Orisas work with Orunmila on the 29th of August, 2009, on our behalf, so the Odun Ifa (Ifa Festival) will be one of the most successful, rewarding, and positively memorable Odun Ifa cum Odun of the Orisas, ase.

Kweku, it's true that it's a problem that many have commercialized Ifa and are willing to sell to the highest bidder, that has nothing to do with this post. Yeye Olomitutu is sharing BlackNificent information here at the site AT MY REQUEST. Please, if you would like to respond to her post, thank her for sharing something with the community. Nothing in this post is advocating commercialization of Ifa culture. If you would like to discuss that as a problem, please do so as no one here likes or advocates profiteering and hustling in the name of Ifa. However, I ask that you start a new thread to do so...otherwise, it comes off as you attacking Yeye Olomitutu for simply sharing information on Ifa that is benefiting the site as I asked her to and she has so graciously agreed to do.
I trust that Yeye will be able to continue to share here and you will be able to address things that are problematic. However, any Ifa/Orisa affirmation that Yeye posts is not automatically the platform to address those things. Especially when her posts are not advocating doing anything problematic, but are simply sharing information with the Kmtyw community here that Kmtyws here at Abibitumi Kasa can learn lessons from.
