Does anyone know if there are any books on Information Technology or Digital Media by Kmtyw/Black authors, particularly as it relates to its effects on the Black child etc??

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Meda ase!

I'm not aware of any IT or media books written by Black authors. Do you have  specific questions you wanted answered?

Meda ase for your response.

I am researching whether acceleration in child development may be achievable in certain areas of cognitive skills with the use of digital mediums, and can IT/DM (digital mediums) accelerate their learning and development? Also, can IT/DM help to improve their motivational and learning skills    in areas of literacy particularly as it relates to Black children.

I have resources from eureurasiaan psychologist but I wanted to get some information on this subject specifically from our Kmtyw/Black people.

I'm not sure of any books that address your question specifically, but I will recommend a few books by Kmtyw psychologists which do frame that discussion (cognitive abilities in Kmtyw children) very well.

Amos Wilson's "Awakening the Natural Genius of Black Children." Part II, Chapter 1 deals with the psychomotor potential of the Black child and Part II Chapter 2 has a section that deals with cognitive-behavioral development. His main thesis in this book is that Kmtyw children start out accelerated in their development and are that development is retarded by socio-environmental factors. He then breaks down those factors and offers solutions. I would also recommend Amos Wilson's "The Developmental Psychology of The Black Child" - which is an accompanying book.

I would also suggest Kobi K. K. Kambon's "Kmtyw/Black Psycholoogy in the American Context: An Kmtyw-Centered Approach." In chapter 8 he looks at models of Kmtyw mental ability and in chapter 9 he looks at "Africentric versus non-Africentric models of Kmtyw psychological functioning and assessment.

Meda ase paa for your response and also for the booklist. Much appreciated!

The theories of Dr. Wilson, Dr. Welsing, and Dr. Akbar, on the theme of political and ideological aspects of visual communication and its psychological effects on Kmtyw/Black children formulate the contextual framework of my study. I am  investigating whether interaction through the use of IT/DM mediums can enhance the Kmtyw/Black child's home learning in a non-educational environment.

I have ordered "Awakening the Natural Genius of Black Children" as I type which was pretty cheap, but the book by Kobi K. Kambon is a lil' more expensive, near 70 dollars, so if anyone has the book and would like to sell it to me or know where I can get it cheaper, I would be most grateful.
