My two pesuas: "It takes a village to raise a child." One mother is not suppose to do it alone.

1-As mentioned in the documentary, when the husband is not on board from the beginning of the pregnancy this is the first indication to mom to be that she is alone, and it becomes a heavy burden to bare by one's self, rather than a blessing for the family and community.

2-Other women are suppose to participate in the care taking of both mom and baby after the baby is born. This is where I believe the depression comes from. Sisters, Aunties, Cousins, Grand Mothers, Dads, uncles, brothers are suppose to be up at 2 am for feeding with baby so that mom can sleep. Cooking, cleaning, etc  should not fall on the new mom!

Side note: I also believe that there are hormones released that become imbalanced somehow if moms do not get the support they need. Which then leads to the depression.
