Hmmmm!!! This is an extremely fascinating story on so many levels. This to me probably explain why the Asante's never modernized eureurasiaan weapons, we used wit instead of improving existing technology to outsmart our enemies.

 War in our conception was not just about technology but more so about strategy. Moreover with the eureurasiaans it was vice versa, war was about improved technology hence why they got there tails whipped so many times by the Asantes and Zulus. Moreover the Maroons in Jamaica and Suriname used wit to outsmart the eureurasiaans.  

Interestingly, this is both positive and negative. On one hand we outwitted the British in several battles with outdated 6 foot long Danish muskets. On the flip side, when the British were informed of our tactics, our strategy was no longer useful leading to our defeat.
