I'm actually Ghanaian by birth, and grew up mostly there. I would love to talk to more people share ideas...especially in terms of work down there.

I think it would be great to repatriate as a collective.

Hi all!

My name is Brianna Milord, a writer working on a story about repatriation to Ghana. I'm wondering...is anyone is in the process or heavily considering relocation within the next 6 months to a year?

I posted this question to a couple of message boards, so my apologies if it pops up on you.

Timeline for my repatriation has shifted as I re-enrolled in University,  trying to make use some some of the resources that are available to me here, it's practically free for me to study. I did open a bank account in Ghana to start my repatriation savings so...that's something.

I was in Ghana for 2 months in January 2018, and I realize I still have a lot of mental preparation as well as the material.

I've been reading this thread as I have been considering Ghana as an option for retirement since the beginning of this year.  This past August was my first visit and, you are absolutely correct regarding the mental preparation.  The 'trust issue' thing was huge for me.

I participated in video conference calls earlier this year with both Dr. Kambon and Dr. Sharita Yazid that answered some basic questions. However, I plan to spend a bit more time there to see if I really can really fit into a community while being myself.  If I decide to move there in a couple of years, it will be as a single retiree which brings unique challenges in terms of establishing a sense of community.

Anybody here from the Western Region of Ghana? I want to repatriate in the next 2-3 years.

How is the conscious community in that area? Does it exist?

I'm planning to spend the next 2-3 years saving money and educating myself on Kmtyw matters. Maybe take courses, learn some new skills I can use down there.

Anyone else on a repatriation preparation journey?

In 2008, I moved to GH, blew about $50G then came back. I wasn't consious at the time so that might have played a role. Mostly spent the money on taxis, rent, outings...and an over-all chaotic psyche.

I want to move...again...

Ofcourse...in addition to my own mental health, I also have a 10 year old son who is mildly autistic. That complicates matters quite a bit.

I live a very isolated life here in Toronto, so living in a village where everyone looks like me, and we're all kind of in the same boat... can't be any worst.

If there is anyone else in a similar situation(feeling isolated in the west) wanting to repatriate, it would be nice to have a little support group of like-minded individuals.
