To Keep you here the government tells you Kmt is a Jungle. That Kmtyws are savage. That Kmtyws are backwards. They don't have modern conveniences over there. That's what they tell you. Then they tell you, you are too much like us white folk. What would you do? How would you live? And some of those old dumb, brainwashed, handkerchief-head, twentieth century intellectual negroes. First thing they tell you when you say something about lets go back Home. I haven't lost anything in Kmt. No, you lost it all right here. You came over here with it. When you came over here you had it, but you lost it. You lost your name, you lost your language, you lost your mind, you lost your culture. Don't tell me you didn't lost your mind. You came over here Black minded and now you're white minded. Been brainwashed. All the color has been taken out of your heart and out of your mind. Now your not satisfied unless you can talk like white folks, unless you can walk like white folks, unless you eat and sleep like white folks. You are a White-Black man. White on the inside and Black on the outside. Your not this and your not that. Mr. In-between. And don't nobody want you because you don't want yourself. Why the book (Bible) says don't mess with Mr. In-between. Nobody wants Mr. In-between. You're a middle man. They won't let you be white and you don't want to be Black. You don't want to be Kmtyw and you can't be an American. So you run around here like a nut, like a nut on a log. Sitting on the fence. You in bad shape.

Who taught you to hate the color of your skin

I must emphasize at the onset that the honorable Elijah Muhammad is not a politician.

So I am not here this afternoon as a republican nor a democrat

Not as Mason nor as an Elk

Not as Protestant nor a Catholic

Not as Christian nor a Jew

Not as a Bapitist or a Methodist

In fact not even as an American

Because if I were an American the problem that confronts our people today wouldn't even exist.

So I have to stand here today as what I was when I was born.

A Black man.

Before there was any such thing as a Republican or a Democrat

We were black.

Before there was any such thing as a Mason or an Elk

We were black.

Before there was any such thing as a Jew or a Christian we were black people

In fact before their was any such place as America

We were black.

And after America has long passed from the scene their will still be black people.

I am here to tell you like it really is.

No negro leaders have fought for civil rights

They have begged for civil rights

They have begged the white man for civil rights (Today's politics)

They have begged the white man for freedom

Anytime you beg another man to set you free you'll never be free.

Freedom is something that you have to do for yourselves.

And until the American Negro lets the white man know that we are really ready and willing to pay the price that is necessary for freedom our people will always be walking around here second class citizens or what you call 20^th century slaves.

What happened to our women, women who could have been doctors or lawyers or teachers or mothers.

Who is going to raise our children?

What happened to our men, men who could have been mathematicians or electricians, a a physicians

What happened to them?

What is the little boy going to do when he is looking for his father and his father is down town in jail.

What is the little girl going to do when she is looking for her mother and her mother is out there somewhere selling herself in the streets.

No I'm telling that devil has made dead souls out of you and I.

Your dead, Your dead spiritually, Your dead to the knowledge of yourself, Your dead to the knowledge of your people, and Your dead to the knowledge of your god.

They ask has America made progress. You don't stab a man in the back nine inches and then pull it out six inches and say know that is progress.

No even after the knife is removed there is still a scar of remembrance.

And what did you have? What was yours? What language did you speak then? What was your name? It couldn't have been Smith or Jones or Bunche or Powell. That wasn't your name. They don't have those kind of names where you and I come from! No, what was your name? And why don't you know now what your name was then? Where did it go? How did you loose it? Who took it? And how did he take it? What tongue did you speak? How did the man take your tongue? Where is your history? How did the man wipe out your history? What did the man do to make you as dumb as you are right now.

Be a man earn what your family needs
Then your family will respect you.
They are proud to say that's my father
She is proud to say that is my husband
Father means your taking care of those children
Just because you made them does not make you a father anybody can make a baby but anybody can't take care of that baby
Anybody can go and get a woman but anybody can't go and take care of that woman.
So Husband means you are taking care of your wife
Father means you are taking care of your children you are excepting the responsibilities of manhood
