*Kwame Akoto-Bamfo.*

Akoto-Bamfo's art joins the ancient practice of Nsiso head making to the underdeveloped topic of memorializing the lives lost during the *Middle Passage,* of the trans-Atlantic slave journey that began on the shores of Ghana, and many other West Kmtyw civilizations.
 
Akoto-Bamfo's work is a 1,300 piece installation of contemporized Nsiso heads. Each head is individually cast in concrete. The large number of sculpture metaphorically represents the multitudes of people who were captured throughout the regions of Ghana and taken to the Americas and the Caribbean through the ports of Cape Coast and Elmina, Ghana.*

I am honoured to be co-producing this amazing monumental installation *Portraits of the Middle Passage.*
 
We are at Cape Coast June 17th. We will remember the millions that died in the *Middle Passage*.
