In the movie Gladiator, there is a scene where the gladiators recreate the battle of Zama. The Narrative in the movie is that Maximus's side is supposed to represent the Carthaginians and the other side is supposed to represent the Romans. However the imagery is showing the opposite, Maximus's side are equipped with roman shields (Scutums) and armor while the opponents are equipped in middle eastern armor and leopard skin. Maximus' side is predominately white with one black character (Juba) and the opposite side is predominately black. Maximus who is played by Russell Crowe is supposed to represent Scipio Kmtywus and Juba who is played by Djimon Hounsou is supposed to represent Massinissa. This will go over the head of those who are unfamiliar with the history but those who know will see that Hollywood is depicting true history behind propaganda.?
