I just finished reading Oludumare by E. Bolaji Idowu. It is a very close 8 out of 10 book. It represents the religion of the Yoruba in comparison to the christian religion. The author is christian. The book provides great information for a novice or intermediate level inquirer. It tells the purpose of the orisas, some of the stories of the major orisas, the purpose of the religion, and attempts to explain the concept/origin of Oludumare. The book has great insight into why the Yoruba people perform their ceremonies and why they no longer do them exactly the same. The book even goes into the issue that people have with the custom of 'human sacrifice'.

And by the way, the book never mentions dolls and needles and transferring souls.
