Preparing a doctoral dissertation on feminine social processes in Nzebi society, the author describes how cosmogonical myth explains contemporary social structures and rituals.

In this 20 page article the author give us four versions of the cosmogony of the Nzèbi of Gabon and Congo.
We learn that the Nzèbi refer to their creator God as "Nzembi a pungu" like the Bakongo (Nzambi a Mpungu).
Ghu levanga, Nzembi a pungu i bonda a mamba, "in the beginning, God the creator", na vanga yulu na toto, "created the sky and the earth", the world and everything that exists, the world of plants, animals and humans.
