WE DEMAND JUSTICE IN
 
 BROOKLYN
 

In late June of this year nearly 40 Black & Latino students in the Bushwick community of Brooklyn en route to the wake of a deceased friend, were arrested by 83rd Precinct of the NYPD.  Since that time the students and the community have been going back and forth to court fighting to have their manufactured charges dropped.  Currently all the young ladies have had their charges dropped, while all the young men have not had their charges dropped.  (They were all charged with the same exact charges mind you.)  
 
 Today (Friday November, 30 2007) the students were once again in court, their teacher, supporter, and community activist Brian Favors (Co-director of Sankofa Communtiy Empowerment) was in court with the students.  While in court with the students Brother Brian got into a disagreement with one of the court appointed defense attorneys for the students.  The attorney proceeded to tell the bailiff to remove the man with the dread-locks. (Which was suppose to be be Brother Brian Favors)  The bailiff then goes to remove a man with dread-lock, but it was the wrong man.  It was a brother from the Uhuru Movement, not Brian Favors.  The Bailiff removed the brother, while the Uhuru Movement Brother protested since he had done nothing to constitute his removal.  Brian Favors realizes what was happening and followed them out to inform the Bailiff that he was the incorrect man.  Once outside the police decided that neither of the men were going back inside the courtroom.  Minutes later two students came outside the courtroom to check on their teacher Brian Favors.  The students began informing the police that neither of the men did anything, and then the students were slammed into the wall by the police.  At this point all four Black men were then bum rushed by the police and arrested on the charges of Obstruction of Justice, and Assaulting a police officer.
   
The arraignment is tomorrow at 9:00 am at 120 Schemerhorn, between Adams & Smith downtown Brooklyn "A" train or the "2" train will get you there.  We need as many people from the communtiy to fill the courtroom to help fight this injustice.
