MEST RELEASES 2ND BATCH OF "BETTER GHANA ICT LAPTOPS TO SCHOOLS"

     The Ministry of Environment Science  and Technology (MEST) has released the second batch of 9000 locally  assembled laptops under the Mathematics, Science and Technology  Scholarship (MASTES) programme to beneficiary schools and institutions.
     The project which is under the Better Ghana Agenda ICT Programme has  already seen the release of about 6,220 laptops to various universities,  polytechnics and individuals across the country.
        
     The MASTES programme which aims at enhancing teaching and learning of  science and mathematics in various educational institutions across the  country was initiated by the MEST in 2011.
     
     Under the programme rlg Communications, an indigenous ICT company was  contracted to produce the laptops and also ensure a fair distribution as  well as offer after sales service.
     
     At a short ceremony last Friday 546 laptops for the Greater Accra  Region were presented to beneficiaries by Deputy Minister of the MEST  Dr. Omani Boamah
     Dr. Boamah encouraged the beneficiaries to put the laptops to good use in order to advance their knowledge n ICT.
     
     The Communications Manager of rlg Ms. Milicent Atuguba who represented  her Chief Executive, Mr. Roland Agambire said her outfit is committed to  excellent after sales service.
     
     She added that rlg has adapted a door to door distribution process in  addition to re-equipping all its sales and service centers in order to  ensure the success of the programme.
