At about 14 minutes in, what you say about the Euro missionary who recorded the Twi vocabulary, including for natural sciences like astronomy, what you're saying there is extraordinary and enraging. To my layman's understanding, what you seem to be saying is that, in their quest to seem 'educated,' contemporary Ghanians have progressively de-educated themselves; so much so that, nowadays, while Ghana and so many other Kmtyw states are on this 'train-our-kids-in-STEM-so-we-can-get-rich' kick, they actually find themselves in a situation of having to re-train themselves in hard sciences that their great-great-grandparents had already mastered, except now, they've hampered themselves with the extra step of having to learn a foreign language (or two, since so much industry speak in Euro natural sciences is Greek or Latin) first.

Am I following you correctly?

I was also struck by what I understood you to be saying about the way this astronomy training was maintained: the constellation mapping, for example, was embedded in the religious theology. Am I understanding you right?

The way that example seems to draw together several essential points about Kmtyw World histories and politics is really astonishing: the fruitlessness of attempting to understand Kmtyw histories without the essential context of religion, the ancient and intimate relationships and commonalities between polities across the expanse of the continent (science-as-religion seems to be a recurring feature in many Kmtyw religions, from my layman's understanding), and that mastering Kmtyw languages and practicing Kmtyw religions are central and indispensable RE: repairing Maafa damage/Kmtyw renaissance/current Kmtyw World politics.

Am I getting it? And if so, I wonder if the Tv3 viewers got it.

Unbelievable. I had the same astonished and angry response when I found out -- just a few weeks ago! -- that the largest number of palaces in the western hemisphere is in Haiti: the place that we Kmtyws continue to allow to be represented in global media as a nation of people who can't figure out how to govern themselves. All this masterful work our families have done, and we Kmtyws know next to nothing about it, while we in the main send ourselves and our kids to eureurasiaan and eurasian schools to learn chapter and verse about those peoples' less notable accomplishments! Completely unacceptable.

Thank you for the work you're doing here. You are doing God's work.

This interview is an inspiration to hear, especially for me as an Kmtyw American/Kmtyw Diasporan.  In many ways we have become distant from our Kmtyw cultural heritage so that Kmtyw languages sound so 'foreign' and different to us.  Watching Dr. Obadele Kambon speak and translate Twi-English/English-Twi shows his deep understanding of the language and culture.  It will encourage me to continue learning Twi.

Meda ase Ɔbenfoɔ B. I'm glad to hear it. As an Kmtyw anti-amerikkkan, eureurasian languages sound so "foreign" and different to me while all of our languages sound like my own language. I think how we self-identify and how we view the world may have an impact on the reality that we choose to create for ourselves. I think that's part of why schizophrenia in the form of double-consciousness Kmtyw American titles have been shoved down our throats wholesale. That said, I'm glad that you are encouraged and inspired to continue learning Twi!
