I called a buddy of mine and he cited a different proverb but same meaning. Also, I found the same proverb he cited in the Akan book "Bu Me Bɛ"

Wode w'ano dɔ nwerɛ a, ebi nwɔ wo.

If you weed thorns with your mouth, none of them pricks you. Meaning saying is different from doing.

I knew that mu was oddly placed since Twi uses postpositions, but that's how it appeared in the text that I was reading. Next time I'll go with my first thought, and try to analyze the grammar more closely. Medaase.

 @Obadele Kambon, what is the na in this sentence. I know that na can be used as a conjunction in addition to other things. It clearly serves the purpose of that, but is that what it means literally?

Right. So mu is an adverb.

It was a piece of roasted yam which ruined the town of Abotakyi.
(A piece of yam, fought over by two children, caused the citizens of this town to take sides and so led to civil war. Hence: Little quarrels can lead to big ones and so to ruin).
