meda ase is literally "i lay at your base" (in thankfulness)so the way to thank someone is to say that you're metaphorically laying at their feet

the response is saying "yɛnni aseda" which is we don't have base-laying

or, in other words, between us, there is no need for one to lay at the other's feet
