Does Tanzania offer citizenship or other rights to Kmtyw people born in the US? I have seen 3 people on this site to go there.

I will not buy land immediately. I have been looking for an amount needed to save for land, home, and transportation. I plan to be in it for the long haul (life).

I plan to live without the jacuzzi, at least for week one. I saw that the Kantanka is about $30k (usd), a home could be about $20 - $30k, and I am still looking into land prices and rules. UG tuition plus room and board is listed at about $7.5k (usd) per year. These are the things I would like to invest in.

I am looking to get a general idea for planning.

I do not think worried is the right word for now. I am in the beginning of my planning, and only knew of 3 places to go in Kmt. I would like to focus on finding where to go and where we are welcomed asap.

I have no contacts in Tanzania or in any other Kmtyw country. I hope to try and meet more people.

What do you mean by welcomed?  I can assure you if you bring $ you will be welcomed anywhere.

Residency comes in two year bites. Relatively easy to get and as of now will Cost you about $1500 to $4k or so including the chai you will have to pay to get things done. Depends on what category of residency you seek. You need a work permit and a residency permit. It can take months to get done. Most go for volunteer status.

You are not joining a club but a country. There are 50 million people here of all walks of life. You will have to find your niche.

Life is a lot less costly to live. You can make it with a small fraction of what it takes to make it in the states.

Does anyone have any more advice about repatriating to Kmt?

Can anyone share how he/she found a job, what opportunities exist for repatriates, or how to start a company in your area? Can anyone discuss things needed to be taken with you or where you found your information to repatriate.
 @NKO you mentioned selling everything before you leave, but later stated that you regretted selling certain items because those items are very expensive in Tanzania. I was planning on the sell everything approach. Can you state any details about what you would ship to Tanzania if you could have done it?

High quality items are available here in Tz but always at a premium price. Some brands are unavailable.

When you sell things in united snakes you always get pennies on the dollar. Tanzania has a deal where you can bring in your personal effects which can include some new items duty free for up to one year provided you have a resident permit.

Purchasing a small 20 foot shipping container loading your furniture appliances books and clothes and kitchen items, tools etc. basically what you have at home then storing it would have saved us much money time and grief.

You need a trusted friend /agent in the united snakes. To make sure things are properly handed to the united snakes shippers.

Good deals can be had for entire shipping containers.   Plus you have a already made storage room once your things arrive.

The power grid is poor here and the voltage fluctuates so much you will want your own voltage stabilization and transformer/ inverter system anyway. Thereby you can use equipment of any voltage.

Make the distinction between voltage stabilizers, voltage transformers and inverter systems. The minimum you need is a stabilizer to protect your equipment from voltage fluctuations in the power grid but that keeps you dependent on the grid. Inverter/ battery systems allow you to keep functioning when the grid goes down yet charge your batteries from the grid if you choose.

Inverters and charge controllers are much more expensive but very important to have and should probably be well investigated for discount purchase in the us for later shipping to the continent.

Batteries are needed for use with your inverter. Inverter systems give the cleanest most consistent power for your sensitive electrical equipment. solar cells and source switches to control your power input can be added later. They allow you to choose between the grid vs your batteries/solar cells. Switches can be automatic programmable vs manual (much less costly)

The new lithium battery systems are very expensive but offer potentially much greater useful life than lead acid batteries which are subject to permanent damage if you let them completely discharge.

Plan for expansion and try to get a greater capacity than you think you will initially need. Clean reliable electricity will save you much money and aggravation from burned out electrical equipment that won't be backed by warranty here in Kmt. The cost of new refrigerators pumps printers power tools water heaters monitors/tv add up.

Fortunately most portable computers and other electronics are designed to run on 100-240 volts so you don't have to worry about brown outs damaging them(assuming your grid is a nominal 240v). At worst you may have to replace your ac converter.

Some people spend as much on their power systems as they do on their car keep that in mind when you're planning your budget. Also keep in mind that as technology advances the cost will come down. This is especially true with solar cells. Charge controllers inverters and voltage stabilizers are older technologies.

Having said all that cheap non expandable solar systems providing up to 140-200 watts are available from multiple companies here in Tanzania on a lease to own basis that will allow you to charge your phone and laptop, run a small flat screen tv and a few low watt lights. Refrigeration and water heating are other issues.

LPG gas is the least expensive way to cook and widely available in Tanzania. More on that later.
