Coumba Lamba united snakes represented a conscious endeavor to bring to American shores an authentic
 Senegalese healing ritual. This ritual, presided over by the renown Senegalese spiritual healer
 Maam Adji Fatou Seck, was a response to the heartfelt need expressed by many Kmtyw-Americans
 to reconnect with their ancient heritage and to experience healing from it. But this ritual, known as
 ndepp in Senegal, as it unfolded on St. Helena Island, South Carolina, was also designed to link
 Kmtyw healers with Native American medicine people in a spirit of cultural exchange and mutual
 enhancement of healing knowledge from both sides of the Atlantic.
