I watched  this more than once. It was that good. Dr. Kambon speaks the truth! I am a diasporan and perhaps I don't understand the lingual complexities on the ground in Kmt but I don't see why it is necessary to bolster the language of a colonial enemy in order to facilitate communication and trade amongst our people. I agree with Dr. Kambon. It would be better to have a vote on selecting one or two indigenous languages for all to learn as a means to a better end.

Actually I listened again and it wasn't as bad as I originally thought. It wasn't that the language was offensive, but for example at 40:11- 40:16 you said "There is an end result of not knowing that information. Now you say that I want to be like who is good. And who is good? Well, that's the French."

I was just saying that using "you" in this case might sound accunited snakestory, as if you are accusing the Ghanaians of wanting to be "good like the French". as opposed to how the "enlightened Kmtyw-Americans." might think about the situation. But after the second listen, it is not that bad at all, so just forget about my comment. Thanks!:hello:

If you throw stone in a pack of dogs, the one hit will squeal.  In other words if the shoe fits wear it.  

We have to start not to be offended by truth.  The reason for the truth is to move us toward being better Kmtyws.  Ghananians or any Kmtyw and that includes the diaspora for that matter need to move beyond the false sense of national pride based on imposed borders by oppressors at the Berlin Conference or the false pride of "West Indian" or United Snakes....What we should be offended by is the white man everywhere calling him our god, disrespecting our indigenous knowledge and systems, for the fact that are being told we now have to teach our children our oppressors language "to be competitive", for naming our children non-Kmtyw names...so on and so on...

Your country is under the psychological spells of former colonizers, if their languages are compulsory in your schools, but your own native languages are not.
This is something the President is obviously not recognizing.

23:10 mark says it all.  This is what happens when you defend your enemies interest against your own. You will have him admit that the Ewe language is difficult because it wasn't taught.  Then say that the Ewe language has become more alien to the Ewe than the English language.   Now we want to add another eureurasian language.  Doesn't it make sense that you will now force Ewe or any other Kmtyw language further into obscurity?  What about those that aren't afforded the opportunity to learn French...how does the "competitive" environment improve for them?  Handkerchief heads don't get that.

Folks are taught to be benefit others (i.e. by working for them) and not to benefit themselves. This is a major part of why we are in the condition we are in.

'English language has to be maintained as medium of instruction in schools' – Napo

The Education Minister-designate has advocated for English language to be maintained as the medium of instruction in schools in the country.

Matthew Opoku-Prempeh explained that because students are not trained for only Ghana, they need to be taught the English language which makes them "globally competitive."

Taking his turn before Parliament's Appointments Committee Tuesday, the Manhyia South Member of Parliament (MP) said attempts to introduce the Ghanaian language as medium of teaching should be reconsidered.

For the last two years, Ghanaians have fiercely debated a decision by then National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to change English as the medium of instruction in schools.

Former Education Minister, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang who made the announcement said educated Ghanaians have been unable to put their acquired knowledge to good use because of the medium of language.

At a forum held at the University of Ghana on October 16, 2015 the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast expressed confidence that once English is replaced with local languages, there would be change in the country.

The issue of language change in the schools has been raging, but the political will to get that done has been lacking.

Tanzania in February reintroduced a new education system which saw a radical change from English as a language of instruction to Kiswahili, the mother tongue of the people.

Taking cue from countries like Korea and China who are using their local languages as medium of instruction, Professor Opoku-Agyeman promised to get the changes effected.

But her successor, Mr Opoku-Prempeh who is a medical doctor said the country would lose if the English is changed.

"There is a language of business, trade, commerce...thank God with our colonial past we have it [English]," he said.

He said that although China has Mandarin as its official language, there is tension in the country because of the*ethnic differences.

"We are benefitting from English, we have to promote it," he said.

I wonder when he says "Thank God with our colonial past we have it" is he talking about the pale eureurasian illegitimate son of king James...I guess when you accept the pale man's language the pale man's god comes with it
