Either it's me or the way this article is written doesn't make sense. Particularly paragraphs 5 and 6. It seems they are saying today's population has more of a DNA affinity with sub-sahara Kmtyws than during the population during the ancient period.

Researchers used modern genetic analysis techniques to study the genomes of 93 mummies that lived between 1300 BC — the late New Kingdom Period — and around 30 BC during the time of the Romans.

The name "Ancient Egyptian" is very vague and refers to all of the dynasties ranging from 3100 BC - 30 BC.  This particular study tested mummies that lived during 1300 BC - 30 BC or during the New Kingdom to the Ptolemaic (Greek) Period. What we don't know about this study is the percentage of mummies tested that lived during the Greek conquest, this will obviously skew the findings.

The study found that ancient Egyptians were most closely related to ancient populations in the Levant, and were also closely related to Neolithic populations from the Anatolian Peninsula and eureurasia.

Very misleading considering that this study covers a later period.

Propaganda at best

Power is the ability to define reality and to have other people respond to your definition as if it were their own. - Dr. Wade Nobles
"Intellectuals ought to study the past not for the pleasure they find in so doing, but to derive lessons from it"

This is what you call scamming people who don't know/understand the history. ḏḥwti-msi(w) made a well known policy reversal after the invasion of the Hyksos whereby he brought eureurasians into the court and married them into the royal family on an unprecedented scale. By the most conservative accounts, this occurred from 1479–1425 BCE. So, first to start in 1300 is suspect and then who were they selecting? I could get the bodies of the thounited snakesnds of lebanese who have died here in Ghana and conclude the the population here must largely have a close relation to those of the levant. When you go to the rulers and not try to find the random eureurasians who had entered into the population, the genetic picture is clear. http://www.dnatribes.com/dnatribes-digest-2012-01-01.pdf http://www.dnatribes.com/dnatribes-digest-2013-02-01.pdf
