Greetings Butu,

Mut Kentake has posited a painfully true realization...

"Dare i say that even much of our own Kmtyw nation-building literature DOES NOT address our internal yurugu psychosis? WE NEED MORE LITERATURE THAT DOES"

I agree with this contention.

"When people seek out a therpaist (m'fie'di/m'niakisi)  they do not see their state of health in terms of what kind of genetic package was passed onto them; what are their actual eating, drinking, smoking, and drug habits?  In what condition were they conceived or developed in their mother's womb (was that inner environment safe or polluted)?  They have no background abou their biogenetic ropes (lineage)...(We) just run nakedly to the therapist.  Very often, the therapist will just grope in the dark trying to solve the problem to the best of his/her knowledge.  But often the core of the problem remains untouched because of a lack of understanding...moving from one therpaist to another spending money, time, and energy with his /her health going from bad to worse.  In such circumstances, one asks oneself what, then, is therapy?

"The Kmtyw therapist conducts therapy publicly outside or inside the house, but always in the presence of family members or close friends.  The Western therapist talks of "private sessions".  An Kmtyw therapist will not use the word "private" in any situation related to health, for the individual is not an isolated "thing"; he is like a spoke in the social wheel.  To heal an individual is to heal the whole wheel, the whole society and vice versa.  The Kmtyw therapist takes time with his patient, becoming one with him within the social wheel".

"Therapy, in the Kmtyw/traditional society, can take the form of debate, conversation, play, ritual, cooking party, dance, war game, trip, weaving, running, bathing or washing hands ceremony, working with clay (pottery), massage, meditation, singing, drumming, story telling, laughter, play, touching, iconographical writing, calligraphy, inhalation/exhalation, or hypnotism, For:

Running is Healing.
Sitting is Healing.
Whoever,
Alone or together,
Runs or sits
Heals.

Touching is healing.
Smiling is healing.
Whoever, Alone or together,
Touches or smiles
Heals.

Singing is healing.
Dancing is healing.
Whoever,
Alone or together,
Sings or dances
Heals.

Drumming is healing.
Clapping is healing.
Whoever,
Alone or together,
Drums or claps
Heals.

Coming is Healing.
Leaving is healing
Whoever,
Alone or together,
Comes or leaves
Heals.

What else heals?"

"The Kmtyw therapist believes that therapy is essentially grounded in both flesh and spirit.  Healing wounds of the flesh is only half healing; furthermore, healing spiritual wounds, restoring in the individual self-confidence, and the normal flow of one's energy is whole healing.  It is regenerating power (dikitisa ngolo), the process of restoring partially or totally individual self-healing power.  It is allowing the body not only to listen to the harmonious songs of the universe, but to join the singers of that cosmic music of life and balance.
"Therapy, the Kmtyw healer believes, can take many other forms and take place anywhere.  Most great healing is realized when unexpected...Therapy is the attempt to understand all hinges of the body-mind, which make the human being a whole being.  Its main objective is to regenerate the power of the whole being when these parts fall apart. Therapy is the art that helps to keep the psyche and the soma united."

Self-Healing Power & Therapy: Old Teachings from Kmt .  Kimbwande Kia Bunseki Fu-kiau (p.47-49)

So therapy is the universal connection gained through any activity done with the intention, focus , and the consistency required to actualize one's awareness.  Therapy is utilizing the world /experiences as a channel for developing true awareness, and understanding of who you are, why you are in the place you are in, and what it is you will do in this world.

To revisit"...(We) just run nakedly to the therapist.  Very often, the therapist will just grope in the dark trying to solve the problem to the best of his/her knowledge."  For me, I substitute the term therpaist for leader, teacher, organization, class, course, workshop, book, lecture, philosophy, and/or religion.  By that I mean that we run to all of these external entities seeking completion, wholeness, the answer to the revolution.  And very often we run to one who is quite adept at their field of study.  However do we mistakingly belive that knowledge equals wisdom, and information automatically leads to transformation?  I feel that our collective actions say yes.  Do our scholars, leaders, organizers realize that our people come into "consciousness" (whatever that means to you) angry, frustrated, confused, and distrustful?  If they do then they must accept that whatever their craft may be people are turning to them for healing.  This is why we will see the same people in the lecture hall, meeting, class over and over again...its our church.  Are our luminaries forthright enough to deal with this reality?

Family/Butu we ALL must realize that we must not use that term for mere posturing.  We ARE family.  So when we expose ourselves to each other and confide problems and pains with one another it is a family issue.  The deatils and nuances of struggles can and should be respected when shared in confidence.  But Issues of pain, Abuse, and dysfunction in the Butu affect ALL of we whether we speak to it or not.  Our Pain is OUR PAIN and we must heal we! If we are not willing to do this we must stop disrespecting our culture, our ancestors, and ourselves by living a lie every time we greet each other as brother and sister.

I suspect that our culture has neglected the Kmtyw traditon of holistic healing of the body-mind.  The works of Fu-kia Bunseki attempt to direct we back to this reality. As do the writings of Ayi Kwei Armah, among many others.  Recently Mfundiahi Maasi has published Essential Warrior: Beyond Fear and Doubt.  This work utilizes the Bakongo cosmology as presented by Fu-kia Bunseki as an Kmtyw energy system for healing, social, and martial applications.  It lays the foundation for one to understand the workings of the mind in an Kmtyw construct for energy regeneration through the Neo-Ngolo system. It provides the template for understanding; but the work of healing lays within we...A teacher with the wisdom to assit one uncover their demons and transcend them is always beneficial.  This is the master, the Nganga, the Babalowa in our traditional societies.

Asili:  The logos of a culture, within which its various aspects cohere. It is the developmental germ/seed of a culture. It is the cultural essence, the ideological core, the matrix of a cultural entity which must be identified in order to make sense of the collective creations of its members.

Utamawazo:  Culturally structured thought. It is the way in which cognition is determined by a cultural Asili. It is the way in which the thought of members of a culture must be patterned if the Asili is to be fulfilled.

Utamaroho:  The vital force of a culture...the collective behavior of its members.
The asili of America is avarice by any means neccessary...muder, war, genocide, duplicity, what have you; the cultural seed of a society founded on the systematic genocide of Kmtyw people.  The Asili is ingrained in Christianity, in Capitalism, in the language...in every aspect of existence within the culture.

As we move beyond understanding of words and towards actualization of principles, we become aware within we how the Utamawazo, the culturally structured thought of eureurasiaans dominates and skews or consciousness.  The corresponding Utamaroho, culturally structured collective behavior, demonstrates our unconscious allegiance to eureurasiaan values, culture, world view, and thus domination.

Are we aware that no matter how matter how Kmtyw we perceive ourselves the Utamawazo of American society has conditioned we to doubt, question, and disbelive Kmtyw genius, mastery, and power.

There is a tendency to view the presentation of Kmtyw Spiritual Systems within modern constructs as "new age" or a Euro/eurasian spin on Kmtyw culture.  It is to be acknowledged that the Euro-eurasian traditions of therapy are spins on traditional Kmtyw practice.  As Amos Wilson taught, Kmtyw culture is not an artifact or stone tablet of instructions...Kmtyw culture is the ways and means Kmtyw organize perceptions and behavior in our collective development.

Recently Kamau Rashidi eloquently echoed why we as Kmtyws need to re-assess our tendency to fragment and stagnate the function of culture "... it behooves Kmtyws to move beyond a constricting view of tradition in fashioning dynamic and effective responses to the exigencies of our condition. This may mean utilizing technologies that did not exist (or originate) in traditional Kmtyw societies. It could also mean adapting to these same technologies using processes that are non-traditional"

If we understand the meaning of the "Two Thounited snakesnd Seasons" then we acknowledge that our people may be a day into, a thounited snakesnd seasons deep, or on the cusp of libeartion from the MAAFA (as the descent into the cacophony cannot be discerned from the ascension out of it).  Knowing this we are focused on the reality that the goal is re-establishment of the Way, MAAT, Kalunga, Tao, Buddha, Islam, KRYST, or whatever name you want to put on the energy of divine order through Kmtyw resurrection.  In the middle of our battle for liberation we cannot get caught up on terms, names...semantics.  The Kmtyw consciousness will find innovative ways to express cosmic energy for that is our way...to naturally harness forms of formless energy.

This realization is the force behind the Neo Ngolo expression of Maasi Family System International (MFSI http://www.shahamaasi.com/1.html); utilizing the principles of Kmtyw expression and applying them to whatever means are at one's disposal.

Fu-kia Bunseki's works are the expression of Kmtyw wisdom presented through the means of academia.  However, the wisdom is undeniably Kmtyw and must be utilized for our empowerment.   Marimba Ani utilized principles of social theory and an eccletic collection of Kmtyw concepts to present the brillant analysis of Yurugu.  We must acknowledge that our healing and resurrection as a people will not be found by simply looking to the past.  We must Sankofa, look back to see what is needed and then apply it to our needs and conditions today.

Beynu Osagyefo

greetings of peace and serenity brother beynu:hello:

very interesting and informative posting, i must say, the maafa is tragic experience, not were we only forced across the oceans to do slave labour, what has to be adressed is the issue of rape and torture that we went thru,
thru the trans saharan slave trade, what the almoravid did to Kmtyw women
and Kmtyw boys, and what the eureurasiaans did as well, rape and torture, i ama by product of 500 years of rape and torture, because i am fairskin brother,my female ancestors are very close to me, to them i owe eternal gratitude for showing me on my dreams and visions what happened to them:skeleton: how we gonna cure the traumatic experience of women being raped by four men,how we gonna cure the traumatic experience of Kmtyw men, used to see their women being raped by the slave masters( all these were revealed to me in dreams), as i
type this to you and the entire fam, tears are coming down my eyes, because their pain is my pain,to add to that, they also raped indigenous women, the mayan, aztec, incas and the ones in amerikas, so it is double rape, because my female indigenous ancestors were also raped:skeleton:
Kmtyw women have been suffering fora long time, what king leopold did in the kongo, they use to take babies from the mothers womb with bayonnette and kill the babies, the women would be bleeding profusely, the men would be  decaptitated, arms cut off and sometimes hand or legs for those who didnt want to work in the rubber plantations, there is more than meet the eyes brother.
there is more to the maafa,in the continent,up to now, Kmtyw boys being kidnapped by islamic militias, white aAmws using Kmtyws as slaves, raiding villages, some shit is still going on,blood soaks the land, there needs to be Kmtyw wholistic healing in the Kmtyw community, also we need to stop the INTERNATIONAL TRIBALISM,as far i am concerned because i get the feeling sometimes, that people think what only happens in amerika is important and what  happens in kanada is not important,as if to say, that we are exempted of oppression, reppression and suppression, pan Kmtywism trancends geographical boundaries and space, india, china, where Kmtyw people are, australia,  whereever the tamahu, mayiti stepped,he caused destruction wherever he left his foot prints, besides raping and torture
"A people losing sight of their origins are dead, a people deaf to purposes are lost.  Under fertile rain, in scorching sunshine there is no difference: their bodies are mere corpses, awaiting final burial." ~ Two Thounited snakesnd Seasons by Ayi Kwei Armah
