Medase for posting "Indigenous Medicine and Knowledge in Kmtyw Society". I have checked it out and personally find it to be a good text for study. Okyeame Kwame is acknowledged in the list of acknowledgements, I thought that was neat. The author of the book (Kwasi Konadu) takes quotes from Aki Kwei Armah's "The Healers" to begin each chapter of the book, I thought that was neat as well. I plan to read Yurugu in the near future. It looks like a hefty text that will probably need time and careful reading to do it justice.

It's very good. I proofread the Twi in it. As a matter of fact, that should be on my CV...hmmmmm....

 Kwasi Konadu is doing GREAT work. I have not come in contact with anything remotely similar to his Akan Diaspora text. I think this whole thread is pretty neat!

I think so too...I'm glad you revived it. It reminded me to add this to my CV, which I just did!

I checked out Kwasi Konadu's new book The Akan diaspora in the Americas (published May 12, 2010) and would like to say that I personally found it to be a very well written resource, one that is relevant to the study of the Akan. Each new chapter is opened with either a proverb or translated excerpts from the drum language. Although the book may be pricey for some it is a good one to have and one may also possibly find a copy in a local or school library. 5/5 stars!
