Riddles are a style of  traditional oral literature the linguistic study of which is of interest for the understanding of the society. 39 riddles of the laadi children (Congo-Brazzaville) are given in a phonemic transcription and translated, with commentaries on their syntax and some morphological aspects. A list of lexical terms follows (phonemic order based on the phonemic content of the lexeme).
